Lars von Trier’s sexual romp of a film, Nymphomaniac, finally has confirmed release dates for the United States. With all of the edits and different versions planned for release, it got pretty confusing for those of us tracking the film. The one constant (and confirmed release) was Nymphomaniac‘s Christmas debut in Denmark. Earlier today, Magnolia Pictures, the distribution studio behind Nymphomaniac, finally confirmed that the two part film will have spring releases. Nymphomaniac: Part One will be available on VOD on March 6, 2014 and in theaters on March 21, 2014; Nymphomaniac: Part Two will be available on VOD on April 3, 2014 and in theaters on April 18, 2014.
The film is split into two parts due to length, but to also differentiate between Joe’s (Charlotte Gainsbourg/Stacy Martin) early and later sexual lives. Nymphomaniac also stars Shia LaBeouf, Willem Dafoe, Mia Goth, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Uma Thurman, and more. As you’ve seen in the first official trailer, Nymphomaniac doesn’t pull any punches with its depictions of sex, which is almost unheard of in today’s Hollywood that will exploit nudity, but rarely show extreme sexual encounters.
