[Mixtape] Donnis: Southern Lights
Atlanta's Donnis finally drops his much anticipated mixtape Southern Lights. Named to last years XXL Freshman 10, he was widely sought after in 2010 by many major labels and ended up signing with Atlantic Records. The features include XV, Young Dro, Gorrilla Zoe, Pill, Danny Brown, Cyhi Da Prince, and Priscilla Renea. The tape's beat selection shows off an impressive range, "Blackberry Molasses" samples Mista's track of the same name and is a throwback to 90's R&B, while "Get Up Get Out" is geared more towards the club with a sound that reminds be of Justin Timberlake (just the beat not Donnis...). Southern Lights very solid release for the young artist and makes me very excited for his first album, whenever it comes. Hit the jump for the tracklist and download.
Boundless Fall/Winter "Garden of the Pure" Collection
Boundless gives us a preview of their upcoming fall and winter collection titled "Garden of the Pure". The Brooklyn based company operates both a storefront as well as their own brand and the production is top notch. The collection features many cut-and-sew pieces including jackets, hoodies, chinos, button downs and flannels. Also included in the collection are the usual tees and accessories. The pieces fit together very nicely and make for a very congruent and well orchestrated release. Look for the collection to drop this fall, which will be available for purchase through Boundless NY's site.
[Video] Freddie Gibbs: "Rock Bottom"
Str8 out of East Side GI comes the newest video from Gangsta Gibbs. "Rock Bottom" appeared on both Str8 Killa as well as his Str8 Killa No Filla mixtape, but this is a different version entirely. Absent is Bun B, who appears on both the mixtape and EP but not in the video. I'm guessing this has something to do with conflicts and such and while it is indeed a bummer, it doesn't affect the video too much. Tonight Gibbs will be performing along with Big K.R.I.T. and Smoke DZA at the Bottom Lounge for the Returnof4Eva tour, If you're around make sure to check out the show because it will no doubt be dope. Hit the jump to check out the video.
Cool Kids: "Get Fresh Air" for Footlocker
The Cool Kids teamed up with Nike and Footlocker to put together a video for the latest Nike Air Max release. The track is paired with a semi-animated short starring Amar'e Stoudemire, DeSean Jackson and Chris Bosh. A goofy video indeed (Amar'e is skateboarding) but pretty dope none the less. Everything is fresh about the video, check out the new Griffey Jrs and the Griffey II's now at Footlocker and peep the video after the jump.
Sade: "The Moon And The Sky" Remix feat. Jay-Z
The reclusive British soul songstress Sade has recruited the one and only HOV to hop on the remix of "The Moon And The Sky". The track will be on the upcoming The Ultimate Collection a 29 track compilation of Sade's greatest hits that comes with 4 new never before heard tracks including this remix. Originally on Sade's Soldier of Love, released last year, the track is a haunting story of love and heartbreak. The singers voice is showcased amazingly over the beautiful rhythm and paired with the sad violin it is a joy to the ear. Jay-Z brings the heat with a verse that further delves into the depths of a tumultuous romance. "The Moon And The Sky" Remix is a great track that showcases both artists talents, make sure to listen and download it after the jump.
Lanvin 2011 Fall/Winter Sneaker Collection
French fashion house Lanvin just revealed their upcoming fall/winter drop of sneakers. The collection is defined by clean lines and uncluttered designs. Lanvin is known for its high fashion and most of their previous drops easily fit into this mold. Their fall and winter collection for this year is much more toned down. Both high-top and lo-top models are present in all new colorways and various materials. Smooth leathers compliment the simple and clean models very nicely, making this collection one of Lanvin's more accessible. Hit the jump to see the rest of the collection.
[Video] Chip Tha Ripper: "The Entrance"
"The Entrance" is part rap song and part autobiography. Documenting Chip's rise to the top of the game, the video is a throwback with old school visuals, grainy film, and of course a corner store. This marks the second video off of the recently released Gift Raps, the first being "Light One Up". Chip has really been killing it lately. Gift Raps is in contention for one of the best mixtapes of the year, and with the help of Illroots and Ken Koller he has added one more dope video to his catalog. Check it out after the jump.
