Notorious B.I.G's "Ready To Die" Baby Found
The New York Daily News recently sat down with Keithroy Yearwood who it turns out is the baby from the cover of Notorious B.I.G.'s Ready To Die. The 18 year old New Jersey native only made 150 dollars for the two hour photo shoot that would cement him on one of hip-hops most know album covers. Yearwood said that "when I first found out about it, it wasn't a big deal to me," but as he matured that changed, "Now, of course, it's a big deal to me." The question of who the baby was has been asked for sometime, but there was no solid answer until now. It was believed that the photo could have been one of biggie as a child or one of either Diddy or Big's children. Around a year ago Rap Radar asked Diddy about the cover and he responded "that was a baby we just found ....We did a little casting for somebody that looked like Big." Keithroy Yearwood's photo is particularly memorable because of his huge afro. His mother Delcenia Burns said that it was hard for him to get modeling jobs with his hair, but it was the afro which landed him on the cover of Ready To Die. An age old question has finally been answered, check out the video interview with the Yearwood family after the jump.
Stussy x Dickies & Fred Perry
Streetwear staple Stussy has teamed up with Dickies and designer Fred Perry to release two dope limited collections for spring/summer 2011. Fred Perry collaborates with Stussy's high end clothing line Stussy Deluxe. The collab will include polos, ringer tee's and v-necks, as well as some straight legged slacks. The overall design is clean and straight edged. The graphics are not complicated, complimenting and strengthening the already clean lines. It looks that black, red and white will be the dominant colors, and I have to say the combo is one of my favorite, especially since DA BULLS are taking the ship this year! Stussy's collaboration with workwear giant Dickies will feature work shirts in 4 different styles, each sporting both short and long sleeve versions. It also feature Dickies quintessential work pant, except this time made out of a ripstop material. Fred Perry's collection will release thru Fred Perry Laurel shops on April 18 and the Dickies collection is available now on Stussy's website. Check out more photos after the jump.
Trademark & Young Roddy: "JetLife" feat. Curren$y
Here goes the duo's ninth? release, they have been steadily grindin' so pardon me if I've miscounted. "JetLife" sees the first reunion of the 'Jet Set' as I like to say. Curren$y teams up with his two pupils for the first track since "Hold On" off of Pilot Talk II. The beat takes elevator music to a whole different planet, mellow and simple, the beat rides slow and the evokes images of the spring and summer. Curren$y has a short verse that is somewhat in between a full 16 and a chorus, and Trademark and Roddy start and finish the song respectively. Hopefully as the weather continues to get better and we will get more releases from these two young bloods. We already know that the duo will be dropping some sort of a tape soon, but no date has been officially set. Stay on the look out. Download and listen after the jump.
Pusha T: "Alone In Vegas" x "Feelin’ Myself" x "I Still Wanna" feat. Rick Ross & Ab-Live
As March continues to progress, we get even more great music. The lastest offering Virginia Beach's Pusha T is three songs off of the highly anticipated Fear of God mixtape, releasing tomorrow. Also released is the official album artwork seen above. Every single track and visual from the project has been incredibly dope. All I have to say is Pusha T and G.O.O.D. Music seem to be a great match and Fear of God is going to be a classic. The drop will strengthen March's already impressive resume of music. Pusha T has been on fire, with numerous leaks and features, and we got great mixtapes from Pac Div, Chip Tha Ripper, Da$h with Sean O'Connell, and Dom Kennedy. Tuesday will see the release of Big K.R.I.T.'s Returnof4Eva, continuing the trend. Check out all of the leaks below and hit the jump to download the final glimpse of Fear of God before the release. Stick around this week to grab all the new dope music that we'll keep you updated with.
Pusha T: "My God", "Lost In The World", "Cook It Down" [Video], "Raid" feat. 50 Cent, XV: "Awesome" feat. Pusha T
XV: "Awesome" feat. Pusha T
So Pusha has been on fire lately, releasing three dope singles ("My God", "Lost In The World", and "Raid") off of his upcoming Fear of God, as well as a video for "Cook It Down". Well now the grimy yet sophisticated Virginia Beach MC lends his magic touch to youngin XV for this track entitled "Awesome". The track is upbeat and exuberent, as is fitting with XV's style. Pusha T may be out of his element a bit (is that possible?) with such a happy beat and chorus, but he shows up as does XV. Check the track out and download it after the jump.
Curren$y: "Frosty"
Here goes Curren$y with the second track off of Muscle Car Chronicles. If you checked out Da$h's new tape Caveman Files, you would have noticed a secret fourteenth song titled "HIDDEN TRACK", its real title is "Frosty". Caveman Files was dropped as a consolation due to the push back of Muscle Car Chronicles. I would say that the album combined with this track are enough to make up for the longer wait. Both projects are produced by Sean O'Connell and live recording production. "Frosty" sports an organ that gives the song a gypsy-esque, Addams family vibe. This may seem odd, but don't worry, Curren$y kills the track. Listen to the track after the jump and get more excited for Muscle Car Chronicles.
[Mixtape] Da$h: Caveman Files (Prod. Sean O'Connell)
Da$h is by far the youngest member on Bluroc Records' impressive roster at only 18 years of age. Regardless of his youth, he has put out a dope tape produced by the very talented Sean O'Connell. The tape was released as a consolation for the pushing back of Curren$y and Mckenzie Eddy's Muscle Car Chronicles. While it is short, coming in at a little under 25 minutes, it is dope. It features only Mckenzie Eddy on one track. While it is a slim offering, it is a showcase of Da$h's skills. Hopefully we will be seeing more of him in the future, whether that be on features or on another project. Grab the tape after the jump and watch the video preview that accompanied the release.
Pac Div: "Anti-Freeze" Live in San Fransisco
Fresh off of the release of Mania! we get some footage of the trio performing their first single, "Anti-Freeze", in San Fran. The track is dope (of course!) and the performance seems to be pretty tight as well. If you haven't downloaded Mania! yet, you need to now. Check out the performance after the jump.
