Freddie Gibbs.

Freddie Gibbs You Only Live 2wice concert at the Metro Chicago

Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs had his share of ups and downs throughout his life, yet he shakes it off like it's nothing. When Gibbs took the stage the crowd went absolutely crazy. Welcoming him home with a lot of love is what fueled Gangsta Gibbs. He seemed to be in good spirits during his show at the Metro Thursday night and clearly enjoying being back in the rap game. Gibbs performed cuts from his latest album, You Only Live 2wice, including "20 Karat Jesus." He also blazed through hits from his previous records ESGN and Shadow of a Doubt. Relive the night with our photo gallery below.

The Dream Shows Out at The Metro

It didn't take long for The Dream to win over the Chicago crowd at his Metro show on February 25. The Dream is a behind-the-scenes guy writing hit songs for Rihanna, Beyonce, Justin Bieber and many more talented artists. But at the Metro he commanded the stage and got everyone in the party mood. He got the place hype with songs "Purple Kisses" and "Falsetto." He even set a romantic mood with "Code Blue." He was clearly having a good time laughing and smiling along with the crowd.

Aside from this solo work, he pulled out some of his finest work he's crafted for others. He blazed through Jay Z's "Holy Grail" and tore up Kanye West's "All of the Lights" and "Ultralight Beam." It was a night that reminded you of the talent and hard work behind The Dream's career. Even if he's not always front and center, he clearly gives it his all. Check out our gallery for a recap of The Dream's Metro show below.

Hip Hop Caucus

Hip Hop Caucus targets young voters with Respect My Vote!

The Hip Hop Caucus is a national non-profit organization that aims to empower the hip hop community to participate in the civic process. This year, they have launched its non-partisan voter registration and education campaign dubbed Respect My Vote! to get young people to participate in the 2016 general election. The program targets voters in urban communities and on college campuses around the ages of 18-40 to register and get out and vote.

Acting as the spokesperson for the event is radio personality on Power 105 and on MtV2's Uncommon Sense, Charlamagne Tha God. "“I’m honored to be a spokesperson for the 2016 Respect My Vote! campaign, and to be a part of a movement where the community of Hip Hop can come together to promote empowerment through political participation," said Charlamagne Tha God. "Furthermore, I am an ex-offender and without initiatives such as Respect My Vote! I and many other people would be unaware of our ability to vote and the steps we need to take.”

The campaign hopes to reach those disenchanted with the voting process or those who feel their vote won't make an impact. It also educates people on voter laws, such as how ex-offenders have the ability to vote in most states in the country. Starting next month, Respect My Vote! will begin on-the-ground voter registration drives in cities and campuses across the country. Those who want to join the campaign and submit their pledge to vote can register at www.respectmyvote.com.

The campaign has been successful in the past. It previously mobilized hundreds of thousands of voters in 2008 and 2012 with T.I. and 2 Chainz as spokesmen. More celebrities for this year's campaign will be announced soon.

"Respect My Vote! is about how voting is personal and the decisions that elected officials make are personal to us. Justice and opportunity are too often denied to our communities,” stated Hip Hop Caucus President and CEO, Rev. Lennox Yearwood, Jr. “That’s why it’s important to get celebrities and influencers such as Charlamagne Tha God involved in the campaign to convey the seriousness and importance of voting as a tool for change. We want to make lifetime voters out of this generation and encourage them to be active in advocacy on the issues that matter to them and their futures.”

Piece of Cake Band

Chicago's own Piece of Cake releases new song "Rusted"

Everybody loves A Piece of Cake right? This indie act, featuring Brynn Bixby, Dave Nolden, Mark Alletag, Paul Karnatz, and Rob Lejman, is from Chicago and are gearing up to release their self-titled debut in May. But the band are giving you a taste of the new material with their latest single "Rusted." The track is an upbeat mix of pop, indie rock, and folk sure to put anyone in a good mood. "Rusted" is a sweet taste of what's to come from this band and if this single is anything to go by, the album should be a real treat to look forward to.
