Childish Gambino: "Tell Me" ft. Heems

You can see the progression in Childish Gambino's music from track to track. "Tell Me" is no exception. Donald Glover brings a much more relaxed and natural flow than what listeners have heard on the majority of his past tracks. For "Tell Me", Gambino brings in Heems of Das Racist for the assist and the rappers trade a few verses.

Sound FX: "Still Tip"

Even with the Sunset LP  coming soon, Sound FX is determined to give their listeners plenty of new music. Today we've got "Still Tip" from the L.A.-based duo which is their take on A$AP Rocky's "Purple Swag" mixed with a hint of Mike Jones' "Still Tippin'" to add to the chopped and screwed vibe. Keep an eye out for more Sound FX material dropping soon.

Lupe Fiasco: "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)" [Snippet]

It's been a while since we've heard Lupe in his Food & Liquor form but if this track is any indication of what to expect on Lupe's forthcoming Food & Liquor 2: Great American Rap Album pt., then I think we "Just Might Be OK". This snippet of the LP's lead single shows what we've been missing since the execs at Atlantic Records started trying to commercialize one of Chi-town's finest. The track samples a classic in Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth's 92' jam "They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)" making it apparent that F&L 2 will likely be a return to "Real" hip hop. Check it out below. The single drops tomorrow on iTunes.

Cocaine 80s: "This Can't Be A Crime"

Common, No I.D., James Fauntleroy, Steve Wyreman, Kevin Randolph, and Makeba Riddick aka Cocaine 80s dropped this track over the weekend. Fauntleroy takes the subtle vocals (with a slight assist from autotune) throughout the track and the rest is some solid production from the Def Jam VP, No I.D., yielding a light, summery sounding track. I'm not a fan of autotune but it works for me on this one. This comes after the R&B collective released "Take My Keys" on Saturday and "Queen to Be" a day earlier. Maybe they'll keep the streak alive by releasing another one today...

Asher Roth: "Outside"

"When we're cooped up, we become loose nuts/When we do stuff, maybe we can loosen up"

Just in time for summer... Asher dropped this dreamy track on his tumblr late last night. The track samples the Cults "Go Outside" and tweaks it just a bit. Make the jump to give it a listen and/or download. Get yourself outside sometime today

[Video] M.i: "NoThing"

M.i rolled out this video the other day. "NoThing" is off of the Austin, TX-based emcee's latest project, The Coldplay Sessions. The stunning video was shot by AaaronIsNotCool and it depicts M.i in various locations in what I assume is Austin. "NoThing" is a track about the music industry and it asks why less-talented artists are often the ones getting all of the support. Peep the visuals below.

[Interview] RH First Look: Warm Brew

Warm Brew

Artists evolve throughout their careers. Some change for the better and some for the worse. Some artists don’t change much at all, producing a catalog of stale material with redundant lyrics and sounds. Other artists change noticeably from project to project, but struggle to recreate the same success found in earlier work. Luckily for us, there are a handful of artists who seem to just get it and manage to deliver a variety of quality music.

Enter Warm Brew. These guys get it. They have an expanding collection of tracks that might make some listeners reminisce on the Cali Hip Hop stylings of the 90’s. Warm Brew has a similar kind of “style with ease” (steez) that was seen in artists such as Hieroglyphics, Pharcyde, and Jurassic 5. The Left-Coasters have proven themselves on a collection of tracks with a wide range of both sound and subject matter.

Warm Brew’s latest mixtape, Kottabos, dropped on April 26th and it’s pretty different from their prior tape, Warm Brew.  That being said, both tapes are impressive in their own right because Warm Brew is able to deliver such unique and well rounded tracks. Their material isn’t only unique in that it doesn’t sound like what other artists are doing. Each track is unique from the rest of their catalog, making it easy to listen to Warm Brew’s material for a while without it getting stale. This young and talented collective is definitely worth keeping an eye on and we’re excited to see what they do next. Make the jump to check out RH’s First Look with Warm Brew.

Passion Pit: "Take a Walk"

Passion Pit let this one loose earlier today. If this track is any indication of what the Cambridge, Mass band has in store for their forthcoming album, Gossamer, listeners are in for a real treat. "Take a Walk" is the first single off of the band's second studio album. Don't be fooled by the light, guitar and synth-laden track because the lyrics head in another direction between the sing-song choruses. Michael Angelako's hinted in a March interview with Pitchfork that the album might be a little darker and perhaps this is what he was talking about. For now, we'll have to wait and see. Check out the track below. Enjoy
