Midwest Mom Sued for Illegal Downloading
A Midwestern mother is being sued to the tune of $80,000 per song for being caught illegally downloading. The record industry is trying to make an example of the mom, who was reportably busted for downloading 90's Dance hit "Rhythm is a Dancer" SMH. The defendant's lawyer is asking for a new trial and claims "The record industry wants to use this case to scare people into settling,", typically when illegal downloaders settle it is for around three-thousand dollars... Yikes!

Comme de Garcon to do a Beatles Handbag Line
Rei Kawakubo, designer for Comme de Garcon is putting together a collection of hand bags inspired by none other than the Fab Four. Unfortunately, they will only be available in London at Dover Street Market and Tokyo at Gyre. Kawakubo basically got together with Apple Corps ltd. the company who manages the Beatles music catalogue in order for permission to work on this project. There's speculation that there may be a t-shirt line to come next.

'Tis the season for ghouls and harper's Bazaar is celebrating with a Tim Burton photo spread in their October issue. The results are creepy but fun. The pictures pay homage to his classic films such as "Edward Scissor Hands" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and the designer pieces that he uses are killer. Check out my faves after the jump and click here to see the rest of the shoot.

Homeless Doll Costs $95 in a Recession
Mattel makers of the wildly popular Barbie Dolls and American Girls Dolls are used to catching flack over Barbie's image. More recently, however, they are catching flack over the message being sent to children over the sale of Gwen, the homeless American Girl Doll that costs $95.00, hairstyling not included. Every American Girl Doll has a backstory, there's Abby the runaway slave, Josefina who has lost her mother, another doll who is suffering during the depression and so on. What's more than mildly disturbing is how much people are willing to spend on a homeless doll in a recession. The fact that the doll has a story that is set in present time and is homeless is a reflection of the times we are living in, yet, the price seems to suggest the harsh reality of our country's economic status doesn't exist.
Lady Gaga to Receive Billboard's 'Rising Star' Award
Lady GaGa, singer of smash hits "Just Dance", "Poker", and "Paparazzi" has been awarded a Billboard Rising Star award and I am not surprised. She has been making waves ever since she stepped foot onto the music scene with her bizarre fashion, deeply artistic lyrics, and unapologetic pop melodies. Be sure to check out her new single which she will be premiering on her upcoming visit to Saturday Night Live. There's no doubt that this lady is destined for superstardom!
