Feist: "My Moon My Man" Boys Noize Remix

Feist

Canada's Feist broke out following the release of her third album, The Reminder, in 2007.  The album cleared the Juno Awards in '08, and received a huge push thanks to iPod snatching "1234" for a nano commercial.  That album also features "My Moon My Man", which was remixed that year by Boys Noize.  The producer/DJ is also known to end some sets with his popular Feist remix.  So, the remix is not exactly new, but it popped up on Hypem today, and now's as good a time as ever to give it some new shine.  More recently, Feist linked up with her old band, Broken Social Scene for some gigs over the summer, and also participated in one of Beck's Record Club tapings.  You can see her peform Skip Spence's "Weighted Down" right here.  No word if Feist is working on new music, but she will be playing two shows in Vancouver come February.  Download the Boys Noize remix below.

The Knux: F**k You EP

The Knux

The Knux entered 2010 with a new release of leftover and unreleased tracks, 5 of them to be exact.  The new-old stuff comes in the form of the F**K You EP, which follows the late-summer leak of "F**k You".  All of this sets the table for the Knux to drop their second Interscope release later this week.  Download the EP here.

Jay Electronica: "Exhibit C" DJ Finyl Redux

Jay Electronica

Waking up with not much to do has its perks.  Las Vegas' DJ Finyl found time on his hands, and gave Jay Electronica's "Exhibit C" a new look.  Finyl swapped out soul samples, to create a similar, yet lighter version of the song.   Download it below.

Schwerve's Magnum Opus: Top 1000 Songs and 100 Albums of The Decade (2005)

Magnum Opus

Disclaimer: Years are fairly arbitrary time periods.  The only thing that makes a decade is the human conditions' odometer fetish.  Unfortunately, like you, I'm human as well and fall prey to these tendencies.  I can't claim to know everything, I'm just an educated observer; and here are my educated observations.  They are not perfect and neither you nor I will completely agree with them in a years time, but that is the fun of lists.

If you were in the basement environmental lab at the university of colorado at around 3am during 2005 you've heard all of these. No matter where I go I will always associate these songs with sleep deprivation and water chemistry.  Especially The Mountain Goats - This Year, that was my 4am anthem after 12 hours of slow experiments and strong coffee.
Check out the videos for The White Stripes - Denial Twist, starring Conan O'Brien and Daft Punk - Technologic, which is simply one of the creepiest videos ever made.Read more
