Esperanza Spalding surprised a lot of people when she bested Drake, Florence and The Machine, and Justin Bieber to take home the Grammy for Best New Artist. According to The Washington Post, Bieber fans didn’t necessarily take the defeat in stride. The paper reports that following Spalding’s victory, Wikipedia added an update about her victory, then Bieber fans took to the page and inserted “Bieber 4 Lyfe” across the top. Her fans responded with “HaHa Justin Bieber, you’re just a little boy with no Grammy for Best New Artist”. The Wiki-war went back and forth until the page was locked by Wikipedia staff.
You’re not anybody til somebody hacks your wikipedia page for winning a Grammy… Congrats, Esperanza. You have truly arrived.
