I wrote previously about my error in opening Gil Scott-Heron’s new album, I’m New Here. Well, I can add a new GSH track to the playlist in future listens thanks to this collaboration with God’s Son, otherwise known as Nas. The Queensbridge born emcee hops on Gil Scott-Heron’s opus for NYC entitled, “New York Is Killing Me”. It’s killing me too Gil, it’s killing me too. Not really, but figuratively you know what I’m saying… Anyway Nas’ part of the song concentrates on NYC’s fast-paced existence, it’s crowded living space, and a dog-eat-dog mentality that is just not right for his constitution.
