Closed Sessions: Freddie Gibbs Edition feat YP

Gibbs

Today we have the second installment of our collaborative Closed Sessions series with LRG.  Session number two took place in mid-July and features none other than rising star Freddie Gibbs, the Gary, Indiana native who has taken the musical world by storm.  The session took place at SoundScape the day before Freddie's headlining performance at the 2010 Pitchfork Music Festival.  Gibbs reached out to Chicago's rising talent YP, and the two centered on production from another windy city stand out, Million $ Mano.  The documentary below shows how everything went down, and also how far Gibbs has come since being dropped by Interscope in 2008.  Watch the documentary, and look for the song "Something New" to be released for free download very soon.

Mishka x The Glitch Mob 'Drink the Sea Pt. 2' Mixtape

Glitch Mob Drink the Sea

There's no way around it, The Glitch Mob keeps it fresh. Whether you like electronic music or not, you'd be hard pressed to find a dirtier set of bass purveyors that keep it real when it comes to hip-hop culture. Here's their latest effort in collaboration with NYC label Mishka entitled 'Drink the Sea Pt. 2' Mixtape. This comes hot on the tails of their latest retail album 'Drink the Sea' which is available now. The mixtape is a 29 minute mix of some of the Mob's finest electronic, bass-heavy efforts well-mixed with modern and classic hip-hop and beyond. Definitely worth a listen, I've had this on repeat for a week now. Don't sleep! You can download the tape here and catch the Glitch Mob on tour with MartyParty this fall in a city near you.

whiz Fall 2010 Collection

whiz Fall 2010

One of my favorite brands out of Japan these days has got to be whiz. They've found a way to delicately balance the fine line between 'loud' clothing pieces, and well-fitting, classic items with a modern twist. For the fall season, they've drawn heavily from outerwear clothing and accessories with some work wear thrown on top. whiz is not known for domestic availability, so this is more of a tease than a preview. Take a full look after the jump.
