Bilal At UCLA Jazz/Reggae Festival 2010 (Video)
Bilal has some visuals from his performance at the UCLA Jazz/Reggae Festival from back in May. Always with a solid on point band, Bilal performs "Something To Hold On To" off his leaked album Love For Sale. His new LP titled Alright's Revenge is out September 14th via Plug Research. The ILLZ: "In Between Video Series" (Mixtape)
Director Kristopher Rey?-?Talley & Hot Mop Films collaborated with The ILLZ to create this project, which is truly a innovation in itself.
"The main goal of this project is to prove that simplicity truly is the highest form of sophistication. almost every song in this project consists of one verse with no chorus, with the exception of the first release "Dreams of Life & Beth"...The videos were met with the same approach, with minimal editing and shots. It was the collective effort and goal of The ILLZ, Kristopher Rey-Talley, and Hot Mop Films to create moving visuals for the songs on this project that embodied the same minimalist approach."
After weeks of videos released, the audio is here to accompany the visuals and The ILLZ has now put out in my opinion two of the best releases in this newer genre of Alternative Hip-Hop over the past year, in The Pursuit LP & In Between Video Series. Mayer Hawthorne: The Do Over Live Mix
Before Mayer Hawthorne was Mayer Hawthorne, he was best known as DJ Haircut and part of Ann Arbor's Athletic Mic League. AML's 2004 release, Jungle Gym Jungle, is an underground classic in my opinion, and Haircut is a dope DJ. I had the chance to see him spin live that summer at a house party in Ann Arbor and it was definitely good times. He released a live mix just now of his August 8th date at the Do Over.
