Vogue India Embraces Darker Skin Tones

vogue india

On the cover of this month's Vogue India are five darker-skinned models taking a stand against color discrimination. The cover entitled, The Dawn of Dusk, was created to promote awareness and serve as an agent for change in this dated battle.  In India, like many places in the world, a lighter skin tone is considered more desirable and people go to extreme measures to reach this "ideal" complexion. This cover's message is a great way to reach millions of people and start changing what societies value as beautiful. Hopefully, this will discourage kids from buying dangerous skin-whitening products and teach them to love themselves no matter how dark or light their complexion is.

Grieves & Budo: "Cloud Man" Video

Grieves

I've always tried my best to keep up a steady following on the Minnesota based Rhymesayers Entertainment as they've produced some of the most legendary indie acts to put bars to a beat. One of their more recent signees aside from their large Summer acquisitions of Evidence and Freeway happens to be the Chicago native Grieves alongside Brooklyn born producer Budo. The two self-released their 2009 debut, 88 Keys and Counting, but will now relive it through the Rhymesayers name. To kick off the process the boys have decided to unleash visuals for the stand out cut "Cloud Man" which took direction through the talented Jesse Brown. Make sure to give the duo a spin and thanks to Spinner for the debut.

Amp Live: "Turn It Up" Feat. Mickey Factz

Ampive

I got the honor to interview Amp Live when I talked to the Zion I duo back last Summer. The way that he described his music really intrigued me and made me feel as if I was apart of his thought process towards producing a record. I've been really slipping up on following his solo work but it looks like he's really got something cooking up with his next solo cut, Murder at the Discotech. Today we've got for you the second single entitled "Turn It Up" featuring Bronx native Mickey Factz. Check out the stream of the single below and mark your calenders for a June 15th release date of Amp's album Murder at the Discotech.

Woolrich's sister line, John Rich & Bros., is very well-known in Europe, the brand has slowly been becoming more prevalent in the states over the past few seasons. Offering more high-end, finely tailored, fashion forward pieces than tradition Woolrich, we caught a preview of the Fall 2010 collection. The season offers a wide selection of pieces including outwear, layering, shirting, and accessories. Drawing once again from multi-colored plaids and high-quality fabrics, this season looks to be another strong effort from John Rich & Bros. Look for these pieces to start appearing later in the fall at finer retailers worldwide. Check out more looks from the fall collection after the jump.
