I just got a copy of the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack in the mail, so I got that going for me…Other than that, it’s been kind of a low key Monday for me.  I originally wanted to take a day off, but Naledge and Dre both reminded me that the internet does not stop cause there are always people like them that go on RH @ 3AM and wonder why the site’s not been updated in the last couple hours…Anyway, the reason for my slowness today goes back to last week Thursday and the first of what seemed to be like 8 birthday parties for my main man, Virgil Solis, aka Benny Rocs.  We took the party to Empire Liquors where I DJ’ed a small set with Willy Joy and DJ Major Taylor.  The place was packed and our girl Nina was also there celebrating her birthday…Let me just say that I dropped “Birthday Sex” and I believe both of them had a good time…

Friday I spent most of the day at SoundScape Studios with Naledge and the Brainiac Crew.  Naledge recorded a new joint with Vic Mensah, and they both did a little photo shoot.  After that I went back to the studio within my studio to work on the Chicago Picasso.  That mixtape pretty much took up my whole week, and at 29 tracks/80 plus minutes it should be really be a double album.  To be honest, I’d like to spend a bit more time working on it, but am getting to the point where I’m just over analyzing everything and need to let it go.  Michael Kolar says it’s all good, so I’ll take his word for it.  For those that don’t know, Chicago Picasso is Naledge’s solo mixtape.  The mixtape contains all original music, and is going to be out on iTunes very soon.  I handled all the sequencing, mixing etc…and Timbuck2 is hosting.  The mixtape is set up as though Naledge is a guest on Go ILL Radio playing and talking about the music.  I kept the vibe as though while Tim hosts the radio show, I am DJing on-air spinning the music.  All in all, I’m very excited to see this release.  I’ve never had a mixtape offerred on iTunes or something that may have promo behind it.  Also, I’d like to point out that I’ve had all this music since November, and have not leaked one song…That’s just the kind of guy I am…hahaha…

Saturday night we were at Lava Lounge with DubFrequency, hosting our monthly edition of Creme De La Creme.  This was the big birthday party we were all psyched up about.  Chip Tha Ripper and all our SLAB ENT homies came up from Cleveland to host along with Naledge.  We had VIPJ, Willy Joy, and myself on the decks and people such as Clayton Hauck, Chuck English, Jerry Azumah, Nez & Rio etc…all came out to party with us.  This was by far my favorite party that we’ve thrown, and Willy and VIPJ absolutely killed it.  The vibe in there was great!  If you missed it, we’ll be back at Lava on March 28th…But before that we will be at Empire Liquors this Thursday and every Thursdays for the forseeable future as part of “ILL Behavior”, a weekly party hosted by Skyler/RH.  This is the new AK spot for those of you who frequent Skyler’s Thursday ish…This week Willy Joy and I will be on the decks, followed by Hollywood and Skyler to celebrate their return from the road…I’ll also be spinning at The COOLer on Sunday night, so check me out…

good stuff

Anyway, I left Lava @ 3 got some sleep around 4, woke up at 9 and went back to work on Chicago Picasso.  I had to have everything turned in at 3, so Mike could begin the mastering process.  I got everything done and spent the rest of the day at SoundScape with Naledge, Chip Tha Ripper, and Mikkey Halsted.  Chip played me some new joints, including one that also features Kid Cudi and Snoop, and that’s all I can say about that one…Mikkey was also in the studio working on new material including “N***as Just Complain”, a socially biting joint about action and inaction.  Mikkey also introduced me to Grady, a comedian from Chicago now living in L.A.  Hopefully you’ll be seeing more of him on RH soon as well…

I wish this blog was funnier…There’s always next time…Til then stay up, and feel free to drop me a line.

peace,
