Watch The New Video For The DJ Muggs x MF DOOM Collab - "Death Wish" f/Freddie Gibbs

"All is fair in love, and lust, and lyrics."

Last week I had the chance to interview DJ Muggs and Meyhem Lauren about their recent EP, Frozen Angels. During the call, Muggs let me know about his 2-song drop with MF DOOM, as well as the forthcoming LP, Soul Assassination, a compilation in the vein of Soul Assassins Vol 1 and 2.

The brooding track is given a fitting video, entirely illustrated and featuring Muggs, Doom, and Gibbs as racist hunting vigilantes. It is exactly as good as it sounds. Peep it below. And look for the next song from the Muggs and Doom project (which features Kool G Rap) to drop later this week.

Freddie Gibbs Drops Self-Titled Project

Freddie, the self named project was announced by Freddie Gibbs on Twitter June 21st, with a teaser video in the style of an old infographic commercial. The project isn't an R&B record, but the pink vinyl and classic cover would make you think different.

"Death Row" featuring 03 Greedo is a throwback to the NWA era. "Cruisin' through the city in my oh-eighteen (skrrt), Sendin' the bitches, servin' the fiends (ooh)."

Nostalgic beats combined with street lyrics makes this a must listen project.

Freddie Gibbs You Only Live 2wice concert at the Metro Chicago

Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs had his share of ups and downs throughout his life, yet he shakes it off like it's nothing. When Gibbs took the stage the crowd went absolutely crazy. Welcoming him home with a lot of love is what fueled Gangsta Gibbs. He seemed to be in good spirits during his show at the Metro Thursday night and clearly enjoying being back in the rap game. Gibbs performed cuts from his latest album, You Only Live 2wice, including "20 Karat Jesus." He also blazed through hits from his previous records ESGN and Shadow of a Doubt. Relive the night with our photo gallery below.

[Through My Lens] Fun Weekend

In this edition of Through My Lens, I take on a Fun Weekend during Fun Fun Fun Fest 2014 in Austin, TX.

After years of shooting concerts and festivals with two DSLRs, three lenses, multiple batteries, and other accessories, I was looking forward to trying out a mirrorless system. I've been researching different mirrorless systems (Panasonic and Fuji, among others) for about a year now, but have yet to make the jump. After watching a video of photographer Jason Lanier talking about his 10 reasons why he left his Nikon system for a Sony mirrorless system and boasting about how great these smaller cameras were, I wanted to try it out for myself.

For Fun Fun Fun Fest, I rented a Sony a6000 from Borrow Lenses with a 16mm f/2.8 and a 10-18mm f/4 wide angle lens. For insurance's sake, I took my Canon 7D with a Sigma 24-70mm 2.8 lens to the Fest. I pretty much kept the a6000 around my neck the whole weekend. I only really brought my 7D out when shooting artists live, but even then, the a6000 was great to shoot with. After shooting with the Sony a6000 all weekend, I can safely say I love this little camera. It gave me the freedom I was looking for to shoot street photography that my mobile doesn't give me. The WiFi technology made it seamless to take a shot, send it to my phone, edit, and post on social media.

Below are a bunch of photos I shot from the whole weekend, mostly from the Sony a6000 and a few with my Canon 7D.

Songs Of The Day 1/29/14 (Feat. Mac Miller, Paper Diamond, Cam'ron and more)

. . . And we're back with the latest wave of released tracks to hit the web today. Starting things off, Pittsburgh native Mac Miller, who recently announced his departure from longtime label Rostrum Records, dropped his single, "Tequila" today under the moniker Larry Fisherman. Cam'ron & A-Trak got together  on "Humphrey" and a bit of generational hand-off happened as Freddie Gibbs and  Madlib show the youngin's  what's what on "Robes" which features OFWGKTA members Earl Sweatshirt and Domo Genesis who kill over the soulful Madlib-produced joint. Paper Diamond proves he's a machine by pumping out yet another track in what seems like a constant assembly line of bass-heavy jams and Future does his own rendition of Beyonce & Jay-Z's recent single, "Drunk In Love", but without Ciara. Check out all of the songs of the day, streaming below!

[Video] Freddie Gibbs: "Deuces"

It's been a minute since we've heard something fresh from Indiana's finest, Freddie Gibbs. This time around, the seminal gangsta rap artist of our time teams up with the mastermind of the drill sound in Young Chop for this dark, ominous track. In what seems like a match made in heaven for Chop and Gibbs to get together on a track, the song is as gritty and street-conscious as you'd expect and another solid get for Chop, who recently put out a track with Taylor Gang's Wiz Khalifa. The video for the single dropped yesterday and has ESGN Films’, Danny Manhattan following Gangsta Gibbs from his hometown of Gary, Ind., to nearby Chicago. Take a dip into Freddie Gibbs' world in the video below and pick up the track via iTunes.

Freddie Gibbs + Madlib: "Harold's"

Well this new is just plain silly. Today, Indiana's own Freddie Gibbs and Madlib announced a colllaboration project together, named Pinata, due out February 4 on Madlib's label Madlib Invazion. As a preview of the upcoming album, as if it needed more buzz around it, the duo plans to release Deeper EP containing the lead single by the same name. Today, they decided to give fans the B-side of the EP, titled "Harold's". And, to add even more excitement to the whole thing, the project is produced by Madlib and includes guest spots from Raekwon, Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown, Domo Genesis, Joey Bada$$, Ab-Soul, Mac Miller, and more. Song below.

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib: "City" (feat. Karriem Riggins)

Freddie Gibbs' work ethic is unquestionable. He recently dropped the hardest street-album this year in ESGN and now he's back with another single from his upcoming collaborative project with the legendary Madlib. "City" features Karriem Riggins and will be released as part of Adult Swim’s Summer Singles series.

Piñata will feature aekwon, Mac Miller, Danny Brown, Joey Bada$$, Ab-Soul, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, Casey Veggies and more!
