10 Life Lessons From Current Women in Television
The women of television have a stronger voice now more than ever. With hit dramas and comedies that host stars of both sexes as the protagonist, women in television are sharing the spotlight. In some cases, they’re even stealing it from their male counterpart. While we’ve seen some of our favorite shows come to a conclusion this season, there are many ongoing ones that deserve praise; especially for their female stars. These are some life lessons we should learn from current female characters in television.

Game of Thrones' Natalie Dormer Shows Us Her Killer Queen Side
Game of Thrones Season 4 kicks off this Sunday on HBO, and like many die hard fans, I can't wait. One of my favorite characters (second to the Queen of Dragons of course) of the books and series is Margaery Tyrell, who is played by English actress Natalie Dormer. This season will feature a lot more of Margaery, who will become the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms and marry the most hated character on TV, Joffrey Baratheon.
Natalie graces this month's GQ magazine in a very sexy punk way, shaving the side of her head for her role as Cressida in the final Hunger Games films. Photographer Will Davidson puts his lens to Natalie's milky skin and piercing eyes, giving us a sexy attitude-filled spread. Check out the photos and video on how to date the future Queen of Westeros below.

[Mixtape] Game of Thrones: "Catch The Throne"
Well, apparently hip-hop is big in King's Landing too. If there was one show that had its fair share of buzz going into the Spring debut season, HBO's 'Game of Thrones' certainly isn't one of them. The return of the highly popular show has been eagerly awaited by fans, teased by the cable channel and popped up in its fair share of pop culture references. Well, now King Joffrey, Daenaryus and Littlefinger will have a more contemporary soundtrack over which to go about their land grabbing and battles. Featuring the likes of Big Boi, Wale, Kilo Kish and Dadee Yankee, among others, the mixtape could very well represent the point at which the release vessel jumps the ship. Sure, we've seen everyone from Michelle Obama to Migos drop projects for free on the Internet, maybe HBO has taken it too far, although you can't fault the artists for getting that publishing money. Check out the full project below, 'Game of Thrones' hits TVs April 3.

A couple dance numbers got in the mix with Nick Nikon's "100 Deep" and a remix of M.I.A.'s "Y.A.L.A." anthem by Falcons. The Dream Life of Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke
Photos by Lachlan Bailey/WSJ
The March 2014 issue of WSJ. Magazine features a rising, Emmy-nominated actress with an interview and photo spread titled "The Dream Life of Emilia Clarke". The 26 year old British actress is most recognizably known for her current role in the HBO series Game of Thrones, where she plays the intimidating Mother of Dragons, definitely not an easy role to play. In recent news, Clarke will be leaping onto the big screen in the remake of Terminator for the role of Sarah Connor, due out in 2015.
In the interview, we learn quite a few things about Emilia Clarke: from her start on Broadway, her rather humorous personality, her Spice Girls impersonation during a musical audition at the age of 10, having recently dated funny man Seth MacFarlane, to her role in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, premiering in April.
Check out the following photos from the fun and sexy photo spread with photographer Lachlan Bailey, and be sure to cop the March issue of WSJ. Magazine to hit newsstands on February 15.

Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin reveals his Iron Throne
I have to admit something: I haven't watched a single episode of Game of Thrones. Of course, it's not some sort of anti-popularity thing where I naively shun anything "hip" or "cool" with the masses, it's because I don't have HBO and couldn't afford the blu-ray box set at the time Season 1 came out. That's neither here nor there; what is is how massively popular Game of Thrones has become.
Because of this, the Iron Throne has come to be an iconic representation of the show. In fact, whenever Game of Thrones is mentioned, the image of the throne automatically enters my head. For those who may not have seen it, the show's Iron Throne looks like this:
Pretty intimidating, isn't it? Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin loves it, but with a caveat. He explains:
"The HBO throne has become iconic. And well it might. It's a terrific design, and it has served the show very well...everyone knows it. I love it. I have all those replicas right here, sitting on my shelves. And yet, and yet... it's still not right. It's not the Iron Throne I see when I'm working on (the forthcoming sixth Game of Thrones novel) The Winds of Winter. It's not the Iron Throne I want my readers to see. The way the throne is described in the books... HUGE, hulking, black and twisted, with the steep iron stairs in front, the high seat from which the king looks DOWN on everyone in the court... my throne is a hunched beast looming over the throne room, ugly and asymmetric...
The HBO throne is none of those things."
What then, would his version of the Iron Throne look like? French artist Marc Simonetti painted Martin's true vision of the throne, which you can see in full below. While the overall theme of a throne made out of swords is kept in tact (and rightfully so), the Simonetti throne is a lot more rough, intimidating, ugly, and raw when compared to the HBO Iron Throne. Again, this makes sense, considering production and marketing costs - would you rather have the HBO Iron Throne replica on your book shelf, perfectly shaped and proper, or the Simonetti replica, asymmetrical and ugly?
