[Video] Big Boi Speaks Out on Outkast Reunion

The biggest music news story so far of 2014 is most definitely the larger-than-life announcement that Big Boi and Andre 3000 will assemble once again as Outkast as part of what seems to be a year-long reunion tour spanning over 40 festivals, indicative of the status quo of a music industry that is a much different environment than the one the duo exited stage left from 10 years ago, after their 11x platinum Speakerboxx/The Love Below became the second highest-selling hip-hop album of all time. Big Boi sits down with RevoltTV to discuss his longevity in the game and his excitement at linking back up with his old friend to re-live the music that made both of them stars in their own right. Check out what Big Boi has to say in the video below.

Taylor Bennett: "Ballin"

Yesterday, Chicago's latest up and comer, Taylor Bennett, celebrated his 18th birthday with the Hypetrak premier of his latest track, "Ballin," due out on his anticipated 2014 project, Mainstream Music. The follow-up to last month's debut single "Heartbreaker," Bennett is proving that there is more to him than his older brother (Chance The Rapper).

He's a mile-a-minute on the haunting Saint The Good Boy beat, tossing together rhymes in rapid-fire succession while allowing listeners to digest his thought-provoking and insightful bars he's throwing at them. It's equal parts Twista and Lupe as he churns his way through the track. Check out the latest from Taylor Bennett from yourself, streaming below.

[Video] Schoolboy Q: "Man of the Year"

Earlier this year, on the heels of close friend Kendrick Lamar being named GQ's "Man of the Year", fellow TDE-signee Schoolboy Q penned a song to celebrate the landmark moment in K Dot's career, thus the song sporting the same name as the title. An instant hit that has been smothered on radio play and blogs alike, Q today dropped the video for the track which seems to detail precisely what Schoolboy would do if he had the distinction. Oxymoron, the follow-up to Q's memorable 2012 release, Habits & Contradictions, is set to drop on February 2 and has been one of the most anticipated releases for well over a year or so now. Check out the latest from Schoolboy Q below.

[Video] Common Talks Chance The Rapper with Vibe

The vast majority may associate Kanye West with the top rapper to come from the Windy City, but to real hip-hop fans, there's few artists above Common in terms of Chicago rap legends. The soulful, poetic artist laid the groundwork for an entire generation of artists from his hometown to pursue different sounds and aesthetics within their records. As Chance The Rapper has ascended to hip-hop royalty over the past year, we have heard little from the upper-echelon of Chicago hip-hop on the young artist responsible for Acid Rap. Twista hopped on the project, spitting a verse on "Cocoa Butter Kisses" and Lupe shouted him out at the end of a recent song, but nothing has been heard from Yeezy, and very little from Common on Chano until today, when Common sat down with Vibe to discuss Chicago's newest star.

Common remarks at Chance's ability to have as much fun as he wants with his music, citing his varying vocal patterns, rhyme schemes and voices that make up the sort of R&B/Hip-hop aesthetic that has become Chance's calling card as of late. The Chicago legend also expresses his belief that Chance has a very bright future ahead of him. That's verification. Check out the full interview, streaming below.

James Blake Releases Pair of New Songs

James Blake took to his BBC Radio 1 show residency last night expecting to catch up with fellow British electronic artist Burial last night, and instead ended up dropping two new songs of his own. The 25 year old musician/composer gave fans a first listen at his latest, "40455," which is inherently Blake through and through with its linear, dark, growing instrumental lines and Blake's melancholy vocals. He also dropped a remix to Beyonce's "Drunk in Love" track with Jay Z, under his alter alias, Harmonimix. Check both tracks out, streaming below here.

Add-2

[Video] Add-2 Interview with FUSE

Chicago's Add-2 and recent JAMLA-signee Add-2 slid through the FUSE offices earlier this week to sit down and talk about the whirlwind of an end to 2013 he had. Add chats about signing with 9th Wonder and what it was like working with the legend himself while crafting his latest mixtape, Between Heaven & Hell, with fellow JAMLA artist Khrysis. While touching on the different aspects of his latest project, Add gets into the inspiration for the title and songs on it like "The Ugly Side Of Beautiful", "Club Church" & "Death Of Chicago". Since 9th put him on the team, this has been one of the most exciting collaboration-signings I have seen in a long time, not to mention one that makes almost too much sense for all parties involved. Add worked hard last year to get where he is now, check out the interview below as he prepares to do it all over again in 2014.

[Video] Donnie Trumpet & Peter CottonTale Talk Tour Life

Video by FragDfilms

Donnie Trumpet & Peter CottonTale have been very busy lately. The pair of Chicago-raised musicians each saw a transformation in their careers last year as Chance The Rapper's Acid Rap, aided by horn play from Donnie and plenty of production from CottonTale, vaulted their close friend to the forefront of not only the national hip-hop scene, but the larger music world in general.

At the time, Donnie was playing trumpet for Kids These Days, who broke up weeks after the Acid Rap release and spent the summer touring with Frank Ocean while CottonTale continued to work with Vic Mensa on Innanetape and joined Chance and Mac Miller on the road for a national tour. Everything came together in mid October as both appropriately were chosen by Chance to join him on his first national headlining tour, dubbed the "Social Experiment Tour." The tour, which ran from October through December 19 and sold out in almost every city, was a fitting end to a wild year for both Donnie and CottonTale, who served as Music Director  for the tour. We caught up with the pair last week at Force One Seven Studios to get a little insight into what life on the road is like and what the whole experience meant to each.

Check out the full video below and be sure to catch Donnie Trumpet performing tomorrow night at The Riff in Chicago's South Loop for his "Farewell Donnie" show, details listed below the video.
