[Video] Aaron Cohen: "Why You Mad For" (Feat. Grande Marshall)

Here at RH, we've had our eye on the New York City-based Seattle transplant with the menacing beard, best known as  Decon signee, Aaron Cohen. The young artist has been on his grind since dropping his latest project, Potential Fans back in November, releasing videos and playing shows in support of the Mishka-backed mixtape.

Yesterday, Cohen released his latest video for "Why You Mad For" featuring Philadelphia artist Grande Marshall and produced by EFF.DOPE and Su Bviley via IllRoots. The video, directed by Jason Ano and Mass Appeal, follows Cohen around the city with the haunting beat setting the tone for the day-in-the-life piece. Check out the latest from Aaron Cohen streaming below.

ProbCause & The O'My's: "One of a Kind"

Chicago natives ProbCause & The O'My's teamed up to drop some heat in the midst of one of the city's record-breaking cold spell with their collaborative effort, "One of a Kind." ProbCause, who will continue to build on a successful 2013 by re-joining dance duo Cherub on tour in March, shows his full range with this latest track, tearing off a measured, rapid-fire verse over the soulful, horn-laden backing of The O'My's. Maceo Haymes, owner of one of the more delightfully soulful voices around, takes the reigns halfway in, crooning his way through the rest of the track. Collaborations like this are a big part of the reason this scene is on the up and up. Listen and download the track below.

Catch ProbCause live in Chicago on February 28 at Schuba's. Tix.

[Video] Migos: "Hannah Montana"

At long last, one of the most ridiculous turn up jams of 2013 has a video. Migos' party-drug-anthem-disguised-as-a-Disney-character blew up throughout the summer, giving Atlanta hip-hop duo Migos their second certified hit after the similar-sounding "Versace" got the Drake treatment en route to topping the radio charts. The video is essentially what you could expect by listening to the song once, with the pair enjoying themselves in the presence of plenty of beautiful women. At first listen, I'll admit I thought this was the worst song I'd ever heard, a few months later, it's a pretty good time to turn up to. Check out the video below, complete with a brief snippet from the "Twerk Remix" version of the video.

Add-2: "Club Church"

Add-2 signing to 9th Wonder's JAMLA imprint is easily one of the most exciting link ups I've seen recently. Ever the quintessential lyricist, the Chicago MC made a wonderful career move by getting together with the sample professor himself in 9th and will have full access to JAMLA's talented stable of producers and artists such as Khrysis, who provided the beat for this early look at how the collaboration will go with this single, "Club Church". If you're in Chicago this weekend, make sure to head down to The Shrine on Friday for a celebration of Add-2's signing featuring a showcase of the JAMLA team, including sets from Add-2, RapSody and Khrysis. [RH First Look] Aaron Cohen

aaron_cohen_header

New York City has long been a dreamer’s city, a place where many a success was made and many a pipe dream shuttered. When it comes to hip-hop, it’s essentially Mecca. It’s where the music first took root, where B-boys and MC-ing first became popular. Because of that, NYC has long been seen as the place to make it, if looking to do so, as Jay-Z has reminded us for years. Seattle native Aaron Cohen made his way to the Big Apple looking for new opportunities aabout six years ago, diving into the bubbling scene that has many calling the current period the latest in a long line of hip-hop renaissances that have taken place in the birthplace of rap music. With an unapologetic rhyming style and an intimidating beard to match, Aaron Cohen hustled his way to the forefront of the underground scene in his adopted hometown. November 11, the Decon signee dropped his latest project, Potential Fans, a thrashing, complete project that stands to prove why Cohen deserves his own lane in the greater landscape of hip-hop today. I had a chance to catch up with the owner of the best facial hair this side of Action Bronson last week as he was getting off work and on the heels of the release of his latest project. It’s easy to feel the passion and drive in every word Cohen spits and speaks, check out my talk with one of the latest artists to emerge from the bubbling cauldron that is New York City today.

Busta Rhymes: "Thank You" (feat. Q-Tip, Kanye West, & Lil Wayne)

Looks like Busta Rhymes has come out of hibernation and returns with a new single ,"Thank You," off of his upcoming album, E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event) 2. The track is signature Busta, and along with him on the track are Q-Tip, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne, bringing their own flavor to the song. We are accustomed to Busta's style, and he sticks to the formula that has worked for him all these years. With a funky soulful sample, the track is something to vibe to, so go ahead and check out the latest from Busta Rhymes.
