James Blake: "Life 'Round Here Remix" (Feat. Chance The Rapper)

Back in March I did an interview with James Blake for a story in the Chicago Sun Times and asked him what he had heard coming out of Chicago recently. Knowing he had made a point to catch Chance The Rapper's set at the Lawless showcase in Austin for SXSW this year, his answer wasn't that surprising."The last thing I saw from Chicago was Chance The Rapper," said Blake. "I went to a gig at SXSW and he was playing and I got to meet him and say hello, he's a really nice guy."That brief familiarity resulted in a track from the pair, a remix of "Life 'Round Here" that dropped earlier today via Noisey.

Blake went on to say later in the interview, "I've always been in tune with music from Chicago because it's a place where great music seems to come out of every now and again. I think there's a hunger that Chicago has. I don't know whether I've got it right since I don't know it that well, but I know the music that comes from there and there just seems to be this sort of appetite that you don't normally find in other places. It's like the people from Chicago are hungry to do something, regardless of what it is. It's just an incredible, insatiable thing and they need it." After watching Chance do his thing over the past year and the swell of talent Chicago has seen recently, I'd say Blake is spot on. Check out the track below.

Chance The Rapper lands on cover of Complex

How big will it get? The sky is certainly the limit for Chicago's own Chance The Rapper. The latest in the artist's whirlwind 2013 comes as he casually tours Europe with none other than Macklemore. Complex's David Drake hopped on the road with Chance, Pat and the gang as they toured the country earlier this summer with Mac Miller and crew, tagging along through several Midwest tour stops. As always, Drake does his thing and the ensuing alien-themed photo shoot is definitely worth a look. Check out the full feature over at Complex.

Leather Corduroys to Perform in Chicago

It's coming. The chill in the air is just hitting the Midwest, a sign of what winter has in store. Luckily, Chicago has something this year to keep it warm: Leather Curduoroys. No, it's not a new fashion item from Kanye, but the name of two of Save Money's finest, Kami de Chukwu and Joey Purp. Why Leather Corduroys? Because what's hotter than that. "Think of the first thing you thought of when you heard the name 'Leather Corduroys," asked Chukwu at an interview in Pilsen the other day. "The temperature of your legs. It's an unimaginable concept, you can't have leather corduroys, it's like having seersucker suede," responded Joey.  The duo brings the heat to Blue 1647 in Pilsen this weekend as part of a new event series in the Windy City named The Antidote. The event will feature a bazaar-type of atmosphere, with independent vendors from the music, art and tech fields set up. Both the space, Blue 1647, and the event are exactly what the city needs to incubate artistic talent and grow the community through something similar to the Brookyln Bazaar. Joining Leather Corduroys performing on Saturday are The GTW and The Holy Kit with DJ sets from Stay Gold (Sir Devin Hudson Beng Feng) and DJ 20 Minutes. It's getting chilly, why not warm yourself up with some ruffled leather? Take a listen to Leather Cord's song "Prophet" and click here for tickets.

Highlife: "Myspace" (feat. Vic Mensa & Caleb James)

The latest from Save Money comes courtesy of Treated Crew member, Highlife. "Myspace's" frenetic, sputtering beat demonstrates Highlife's bread and butter and presents bit of an obstacle for Vic and Caleb, albeit one they deftly maneuver, bringing their own distinct style to the single. Highlife's upcoming self-titled debut album is on it's way, for now listen below and let us know what you think.
