[Mixtape] ShowYouSuck: "The Essentials"
Over the Memorial Day weekend, something magical happened. Ruby Hornet staple (and my new LOD brother) Auggie the 9th assembled a primer of essential ShowYouSuck songs for a mixtape simply named The Essentials. The mixtape consists of various songs throughout ShowYouSuck's early, yet already illustrious career spanning his One Man Pizza Party trilogy and the Girls Girls Girls EP with Stefan Ponce.
If you've constantly found yourself late to the pizza party, The Essentials is the perfect way to catch yourself up to speed with ShowYouSuck's sonic shenanigans. If that doesn't entice you enough, the cover art features the Green Ranger swagging out Lord Zedd's throne (or at least I think it's Lord Zedd's throne; I hope I don't lose street cred if I'm wrong).
ShowYouSuck will be supporting Alex Wiley's Club Wiley release on June 6th at Lincoln Hall with Taylor Bennett, Kembe X, Caleb James, St. Millie, and JeanDeaux. You can download The Essentials here.
[RH Premiere] Netherfriends: "Good Vibes" (feat. ShowYouSuck and ELEE X)
Netherfriends is kicking up quite a storm this year. Outside of the very ambitious 50 Songs, 50 States project, he has an album called New Chi-t scheduled for June 21st featuring songs from, you guessed it, Chicago musicians. We're lucky to be premiering the latest song from New Chi-t, "Good Vibes on a Sunny Day," featuring ShowYouSuck and ELEE X from Impolite Society.
The video follows Netherfriends' practice of editing classic video footage juxtaposed with the song itself to create a dichotomy between the song and the footage. "Good Vibes" samples The Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations," but with a trippy mix. ShowYouSuck and ELEE X trade verses over footage of surfers from the 1966 film, The Endless Summer, followed by a tempo/tonal change halfway through the song, making a creative spin on the characteristic "drops" in most popular music these days.
You can download the song and watch the video below. If you're free on Monday, you can catch Netherfriends live at the Empty Bottle for free. If you're not free on Monday, cancel your plans so you can catch Netherfriends live at the Empty Bottle for free.

[RH Photos] ShowYouSuck and Auggie the 9th Live @ Threadless X CBLDF C2E2 After-Party
This past weekend was C2E2 (Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo) 2013, and I had the pleasure of spending my entire Saturday with some familiar Ruby Hornet figures in Auggie the 9th, ShowYouSuck, and Chandler London. Video footage from the day's shenanigans spent wandering around the show floor admiring various street art, comic books, cosplayers, and general geeky stuff is cooking and will be posted in the near future. Keep your eyes out for them!
However, after our day of being rambunctious ragamuffins at the convention, Auggie and Show performed their own individual sets at the Threadless X CBLDF C2E2 After-Party. Threadless, the Chicago-based, community-driven T-shirt company, and the CBLDF (Comic Book Legal Defense Fund), a non-profit organization that helps protect First Amendment rights for comic artists, writers, retailers, and collectors, teamed up to provide some late night fun for C2E2 attendees where Auggie had all the ladies (and possibly a few guys) twerking in some KEDS, while Show made everybody wish they still had their flip phones.
You can check out the photos below. If you would like to read more about the CBLDF, I encourage you to visit their website.
ShowYouSuck: "Mild Sauce" (Feat. Chella H) (Remix)
It's a Treated Crew affair as Chella H hops on ShowYouSuck's "Mild Sauce" track for the official remix. I already knew Chella was an ill emcee, but this is has to be one of my favorite verses from the 1st Lady of Chicago. These two should collaborate more!
Toro Y Moi: "Cake" (ShowYouSuck Remix)
With Toro Y Moi performing in Chicago tonight, ShowYouSuck felt like it was the right time to release another one of his viral remixes, in the latest installment of this ongoing series, Show takes the track "Cake" and spits a quick 16 at the end of it.

[RH Premiere] ShowYouSuck: "Rap Game Karate" (prod by Zak Jablow)
"Rap Game Karate" is the first single from AEMMP Hip Hop's forthcoming compilation, The Prerequisite. The album features a great collection of Chicago Hip Hop artists, all compiled by the student run record label of Columbia College. The new record features ShowYouSuck, with production from Zak Jablow and it is quite the banger. The Prerequisite will be released on March 5th, and is the follow-up to last year's Class President, which introduced many to the production Thelonious Martin. Listen and download the song below, and stay tuned for more from AEMMP Hip Hop.
[Video] ShowYouSuck: "Clam Chowder Soup"
ShowYouSuck just dropped off his newly minted video for "Clam Chowder Soup". The video pays homage to emcees that came before him, and is a strong directorial debut from Andrew Zeiter, with our own Tony Shane on camera two. "Clam Chowder Soup" is off Show's OneManPizzaParty. Watch it below.
