JODY: "Floodin"
Chicago-based group, JODY, consists of The GTW, David Robertson, Khallee Standberry-Lois, Cole Johnson and production duo The Drums. Their first single "Echos" was featured here about two weeks ago and today the Nu-Soul/R&B collective has release yet another smooth record in the form of "Floodin", a spaced-out and blissful track that hypnotizes the listener with melodic vocals by The GTW and Standberry-Lois and a fitting instrumental. Shouts to FACT Mag on the premiere.
[RH Premiere] Saba: "Cursive" prod. by IKON
Columbia College based record label AEMMP recently released ShowYouSuck’s single last week. And today their here for the next single off their upcoming LP "Cursive" by rising artist Saba. Definitely sounding out to be a great portrayal of the saturated talent Chicago holds. Peep below.
Fonz-E Mak x U.G.: "It Was a Tuesday"
Today Fonz- E Mak & U.G. decided to release a new track titled "It Was Tuesday". Well it's Monday and the song was recorded over a year ago but nonetheless the record is hot. Shouts to U.G. on the recent twitter verification, perhaps we'll see the ramifications from that soon.

Oddisee: "Hustle Off"

"Sometimes you gotta turn your hustle off... and slow your speed."
No days off is a common modus of operandi for many in the music business, from artists, producers, engineers, fucking journalist/djs dudes that also teach at Columbia... While I love what I do and consider myself very lucky to be able to pay my rent doing what I love, I really agree with Oddisee's sentiments on his new record, "Hustle Off". Sometimes you just gotta unplug for a second and refresh in order to step back into grind mode. The song is off Oddisee's forthcoming alum, People Hear What They See, which drops June 5th via Mello Music Group (pre-order on iTunes).
Check out Oddisee's new song, "Hustle Off" as well as his thoughts on the album below.
"This album is about influence, inspiration, perception & reality. Every song was written in an outside environment, so that I could observe the subjects that would become my subject matter. All too often in Hip Hop, reality is limited to that of the artists own, actual experiences. People Hear What They See is my attempt to liberate the MC from those constraints & allow reality to be penned other than my own. Listening to congressmen & lawyers converse on the steps of the supreme court inspired ‘American Greed’, Watching a couple argue over the phone in a bar inspired ‘Maybes’. By having a visual representation of my subject matter, my hopes are that the listener will see them through the worlds & melodies of my songs."
Wale ft. Big Sean: "Slight Work" Prod. Diplo

Diplo with Wale and Big Sean? Well I will not complain at all on that one. I feel like this song would be even better if Cudi got thrown on this as well. Hell if Cudi could get some Diplo production, hell if Cudi would rap. But back to the song at hand, Wale has his new project "Ambition" coming up and it will mark to most of whether or not he took the right turn joining Ross and MMG. So far to me the tracks he has been putting out have either been fire or a pooper. This one was wavering the line but the Big Sean comes in and gives me something that I wanted. I guess I'm a little sour on Wale but it is hard to fall in love with an artist that changes his style every year. I hope he sticks with MMG and we can at least all get used to who Wale is.

Ludacris ft. Big K.R.I.T.: "I'm On Fire"

Dang, it is great to see Big K.R.I.T. popping up everywhere these days. It is also see Ludacris get on some smooth sounding southern sweetness with K.R.I.T. and not some Battle Of The Sexes wackness. These two linked up once in the past on the remix to K.R.I.T.'s track "Country Shit" which also included Bun B. "I'm On Fire" is great and gives me some hope on how this upcoming Ludacris mixtape is going to turn out.

Kids These Days: Transition

"At the end of the day, we believe in this s**t more than life itself."
A year ago, Kids These Days were a buzzing band of high school students. Today, they are on the verge of national breakout success, racking up features in outlets such as MTV, and The New York Times. In this new RH video, KTD's Vic Mensa, Liam Cunningham, and Nico Segal talk about the band's transition to full-time musicians, and the commitment they've made to the music, and most importantly, to each other.
