[Video] Psalm One: "A New Phaze" (Feat. The Hood Internet, Tanya Morgan and Fluffy)

Last week, Psalm One, aka 'Hologram Kizzie' dropped her album, Hug Life via Bandcamp and iTunes. This week, on the heels of a solid first week of sales for the largely independent artist out of Chicago, Psalm offers up the first video for the project for "A New Phaze" which has production from electronically-inclined production team The Hood Internet, as well as Cleveland hip-hop collective Tanya Morgan and right-hand woman Fluffy who all join her on the eclectically-fun track that sets the tone for the rest of what is to come from the project that firmly straddles several different genres and sounds that come together to provide a sampling of styles and endeavors that are hot right now. The video balances the different flavors on the project with what is largely a traditional hip-hop video that allows Psalm to take creative risks while staying rooted in the art-form that has brought her to prominence, while also touching on her community service and outreach endeavors. Psalm has always been at the forefront of what is happening in the middle of the map, evidenced by her firm link with the Minnesota-based DoomTree collective and Tanya Morgan feature here, and this video is a furtherance of that sentiment. The Hood Internet: "Mom Jeans 2.0" (ShowYouSuck X Them Jeans X James Pants)

Here's a throwback remix! ShowYouSuck's One Man Pizza Party 2: Mo' Slices, Mo' Problems featured the classic ode to the high-risk, all-reward fashion statement, "Mom Jeans." With the final Pizza Party set to come out next week, Slice After Death, ShowYouSuck is switching the game up a bit, having the mixtape consist of a mix of both new songs and remixes of classic songs from a large number of producers.

The first said remix to come out for the album is The Hood Internet's take on the high-waisted pantaloons, "Mom Jeans 2.0." All Denim Everything. Remember, if you ever meet a pretty young lady that can properly rock some Mom jeans, know that she's a keeper. Don't forget to vote for ShowYouSuck to play this year's North Coast Music Festival!

[Mixtape] The Hood Internet: "The Mixtape Volume Seven"

Somehow, The Hood Internet's latest mixtape, The Mixtape Volume Seven, slid past us. The new collection of mashups by the Chicago production duo features 25 tracks mixing up a plethora of artists, including Justin Timberlake, Daft Punk, Danny Brown, Chance the Rapper, Action Bronson, Frank Ocean, and Purity Ring. For those unfamiliar with The Hood Internet, they mix and mash hip hop/R&B tracks with songs from Indie Rock bands, resulting in an insanely catchy and infectious number of songs.

Some personal favorites from The Mixtape Volume Seven include "Grown Up Has No Trigger" (Danny Brown X Dirty Projectors), "Double Talm" (Chance the Rapper X Girl Unit), "Lucky Suit" (Justin Timberlake X Jay-Z X Daft Punk), and "Pyramidspeak" (Purity Ring X Frank Ocean). Keep in mind: This is all coming from somebody who doesn't really like dance music; The Hood Internet is that good.

You can stream the mixtape below or download it here.
