[Trailer 2] Prisoners

The second trailer for Prisoners has recently been released. Much like the initial trailer that came out late last month, the latest trailer is very heavy on the exposition. However, it adds a few extra wrinkles to what has already been shown. I still feel like the combination of the two aren't hiding enough for audiences to genuinely feel surprised when the film is actually released. However, as is the goal for every trailer, I have found myself hooked even more into what Prisoners has to offer.

For those who don't remember, the Denis Villeneuve-directed thriller stars Hugh Jackman and Terrence Howard as two parents whose young daughters have mysteriously disappeared, Jake Gyllenhaal as the detective assigned to the case, and Paul Dano as the main suspect for the crime. The cinematography is on point, the tone is very thrilling and up-tempo, and the cast is full of very talented, award-winning actors. I just hope and pray not too much will be revealed before Prisoners breaks into theaters on September 20th.

[Trailer] Escape Plan

"You hit like a vegetarian," Arnold Schwarzenegger tells Sylvester Stallone after Sly punches him in the stomach. If that doesn't sound hilarious to you, stop reading now.

Everybody else with us? Cool. Escape Plan is an action-thriller starring the two former action stars trapped in a futuristic high-tech prison. Stallone's character, Ray Breslin, is ironically the top engineer of the prison he is wrongly being held in. With the aid of Schwarzenegger's character, Swan Rottmayer, the two must find an "escape plan" from the prison... even if it was built with the whole premise of not allowing escapes.

Escape Plan will be hitting theaters on September 13th.

[Trailer] Getaway

On-screen chemistry is one of the most important aspects when it comes to a film. Two of the most talented actors in Hollywood could be paired together in a film, but if they lack chemistry, it's gonna be noticeable and, ultimately, weight the entire film down. With this debut trailer for Getaway, the question of chemistry is brought up, and with good reason.

Ethan Hawke (Before Midnight) stars as Brent Magna, a former race car driver, who must rescue his kidnapped wife from a mysterious man (Jon Voight). To do so, the kidnapper puts Brent through a series of challenges, which also includes hijacking a young girl's car, played by Selena Gomez (Springbreakers). Even in this first trailer, you can tell there's a disconnect between Gomez and Hawke. I liked Gomez' role in Springbreakers, and I'm a huge fan of Hawke's work, but the two of them together, in an action/race thriller seems... off. Also, weirdly enough, a lot of the cop cars in the trailer have a tendency to flip vertically as if they're being plowed by those tumbler cars in Fast & Furious 6.

However, I'll withhold judgment until August 30th, when the film is released to theaters. You can watch the trailer for Getaway below or in HD on the film's iTunes Movie Trailers page.
