James Franco (Spring Breakers) and Kate Hudson (Wish I Was Here) star in this first trailer for Good People. Directed by Henrik Ruben Genz, the two star as a young American couple that relocates to London to renovate Anna’s (Hudson) family home. However, the renovation causes the two to fall deeply into debt. Just as they begin losing hope over having their dream house, they discover one of their tenants was murdered. As the paramedics and police leave the scene, the couple discover a duffel bag full of money… more than enough to pull them out of debt. Just when things appear optimistic, the thief who actually stole the money begins to target them.
Good People is a thriller that puts “good people” into precarious situations. Honestly, if you were in terrible debt and came across an absurd amount of cash, wouldn’t you use it, too? It’ll be interesting to see Franco and Hudson enter into more action/thriller roles, considering their casting in mostly comedies and dramas in recent years. Based on the trailer, the duo have good chemistry; hopefully it’ll be enough to carry the rest of the film.
Tom Wilkinson (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and Omar Sy (X-Men: Days of Future Past) also star in the film. Good People will be in theaters later this year.
