[Album] St. Millie: "Road To Glory"

Chicago native St. Millie has been slowly growing his name and brand within the burgeoning scene around him for some time now, releasing a host of projects that have endeared him to a local college and young adult market while establishing himself. Today, we get the latest from St. Millie in the eleven track project, Road To Glory, mixed by Elton Chueng at Classick Studios. The project is a mark of growth for the 22-year-old Columbia College student who can more often than not be found hanging around Jugrnaut in the city's South Loop. The project is a hometown affair with production coming from fellow Treated Crew member Nasim Williams, fellow Columbia student Thelonious Martin, THEMpeople and Von Vuai, among others. Overall, it's a cohesive, flowing project that laments on critical issues while keeping the tension at ease with well-placed tracks. St. Millie literally had his face plastered all over the city as wheat pastings of his face with a crown were pinned to walls across the city. With Road To Glory he's hoping to move beyond those walls. Check out the full stream/download below.

[Video] St. Millie: "Get Em High" (Feat. Lili K.)

Few artists out of the Midwest have been as hungry or as active as Treated Crew artist St. Millie. Walk around the city and you're bound to see the young MC. Whether it be hanging out at Jugrnaut, at a show around town or the larger-than-life face postings that popped up around town depicting him with a crooked crown one thing is clear; St. Millie is working his ass off. With plenty of buzz surrounding his next move, he dropped "Get Em High" produced by The Gift and featuring Milwaukee-bred and current Chicago native Lili K, who amplifies the track the way she has made a habit of lately. The video was shot by VisualMecca, who themselves have been building a reputation as each video shows growth for the video production team on the rise.

Saint Millie: "Never Change"

Saint Millie's debut mixtape No Religion But Up was a great introductory project that familiarized the Chicago emcee's name among the local scene and cemented his place as a promising upstart. "Never Change" won't be included in his forthcoming album Glory, but it showcases the progress he has made since NRBU. Listen below.

St. Millie: "No Damn 2.0"

St. Millie keeps his streak going with yet another banging single off his forthcoming Glory. "No Damn 2.0", is a newer version of a release he put out earlier this year as part of AEMMP Hip-Hop's latest EP The Prerequisite. The tracks features only slight mastering and intro changes, but as Millie gears up to release his biggest 'tape to date, it's definitely worth giving "No Damn" its proper due.

#100Trill: "Don't Understand (Band$)" (Feat. St. Millie)

The duo of Chicago producer MikeJaxx and artist Grade A-Plus got together with fellow Treated Crew affiliate St. Millie for "Don't Understand (Band$)." Jaxx's production has found its way onto a lot of artist's projects recently, with only more to come from the forward thinking beat crafter. Grade A-Plus and Millie do their thing as usual-certainly two acts out of the Midwest to keep an eye on if you're not already. Take some time out of the day to catch the latest from this talented trio below.

St. Millie: "No Damn" (prod. by Von Vuai)

A month after St. Millie dropped "Get 'Em High" with Lili K, the Treated Crew member comes in full force with the Von Vuai-produced "No Damn." Millie ended 2012 on a high note as his debut mixtape No Religion But Up found critical acclaim and helped elevate the rapper's name to the next level. "No Damn" continues where he left off with No Religion But Up. If you've been sleeping on Millie up until this point, "No Damn" should wake you up to his talent.

[Interview] First Look: St. Millie

St. Millie: RubyHornet First Look

Back in January, as I was cleaning up my stuff after ending my class at Columbia College, one of my students came up to me and asked if he could introduce me to a new artist that he supported.  I'm always interested in music brought me to by my students, who are often times on the ground level with many of the young artists in Chicago's scene.  The following week, as I lectured to my class, St. Millie sat patiently outside the classroom door waiting for my students' dismissal and his time to enter the room and share his music.  That was my first meeting with St. Millie, who spoke humbly about his music and his hopes for it.  He played me a couple records and mentioned that The Gift -who is most well known for his work with Rockie Fresh- was serving as a musical mentor on his forthcoming project.

Millie didn't brag or boast. He played the music and asked me questions about each song and exactly what he could do to improve, or any places he could get his foot in the door.  A couple months later Millie opened up our Digital Freshness Under 21 edition, earning a coveted spot on the showcase of up and coming emcees that also featured Chance The Rapper, Caleb James, and Calez, all of whom are garnering interest from beyond the windy city right now.  Millie's work ethic, approach, and respect for teamwork have greatly helped in getting him to this point, a place where he has a chance to break through with the August 11th release of his new mixtape, No Religion But Up.

In this new edition of RH First Look, Millie talks about the spiritual concept behind the project as well as his journey from near homelessness to finding his place within the Chicago Hip Hop community.  Hit the next page to read on.

[RH TV] Freestyle In The Park: The New Class

Last month we hosted a special edition of Digital Freshness featuring only local talent under the age of 21.  The purpose was to showcase the new crop of Chicago artists, and give them a chance to prove themselves in front of a live audience.  The show was great, with everyone putting on a strong performance. Before the show we got all the participating emcees together for a little cipher, which goes back to our Freestyle In The Park days.  Check out the video below featuring Caleb James, Kembe X, Alex Wiley, Calez, Legit, St. Millie, and Chance The Rapper.

The video was shot by Elijah Alvarado and edited by Andrew Zeiter.  Special thanks to Jugrnaut and SoundScape for hosting Digital Freshness with us.
