Dakota Fanning (The Motel Life) and Elizabeth Olsen (Godzilla) star as best friends on the cusp of adulthood in Naomi Foner’s directorial debut, Very Good Girls. During the summer before leaving for college, the two friends make a pact to lose their virginity before the season’s over. However, they find their tight bond tested when they fall for the same guy, played by Boyd Holbrook.

Considering Olsen’s rising star in Hollywood, this is the perfect time for Very Good Girls to come out. However, reviews from its Sundance 2013 debut were less than kind to the film. However, with its wider release later this summer (June 24th on iTunes, July 25th in theaters), we can see if public perception can be much kinder to Forner’s debut. After all, her screenwriting credits are sound, as she was both nominated for an Academy Award and won the Golden Globe for Best Original Screenplay for 1988’s Running on Empty.
