Kid Cudi: "Poke Her Face"/"Spazzin" Live At The Roots Picnic
Kid Cudi hit up The Roots Picnic, which just seems like an utterly awesome experience. We were miles and miles away at the Sox game, but both Virgil and I were so touched by it, that it inspired us to do our own picnic, which actually resembled tailgating...so it all worked out. Anyway, check out Cudi doing "Poker Her Face" and "Spazzin'" below courtesy of AlwaysHustle.

The Mighty Mos Def: The Underground Album
*I swapped the link, so for those of you having trouble, it should be all good now...
Mos Def's new LP, The Ecstatic, will hit stores on June 9th. I'll be among the first in line to cop the new CD, as I've done with each Mos Def album since he released Black On Both Sides approximately 10 years ago. I don't know the exact first Mos Def track that I heard, maybe it was The Lyricist Lounge track, "Body Rock". It could have been on ATCQ's Love Movement...I'm not sure, and since the internet wasn't running things back then, learning of a new artist was a little something extra special. I was a Black Star fan, but it was Mos' Black On Both Sides that flipped a different switch inside me that still has yet to be turned off. Similar in the way that I searched high and low for Beastie Boys records I didn't have, my daily trips to Dr. Wax always included a stop at the Mos Def section hoping to see something new, rare, or unreleased. One such trip turned up profitable, as I came across The Underground Album, which at the time I thought was some crazy limited release or something in my excitement. Obviously, it's more of a collection of tracks that someone put together, ran off with their CD burner and took to mom and pop stores as an official bootleg. Anyway, the tracks are still dope, and in honor of the new release we offer up The Mighty Mos Def: The Underground Album featuring songs such as "Universal Magnetic", "Little Brother", and "A Soldier's Dream". Grab it below and look for more the rest of the week.

Alan Wilkis: "N.I.C.E."/"Pink and Purple"
Alan Wilkis first hit RH with his remix of Phoenix's "1901". Yesterday he dropped his new EP, Pink and Purple, in my inbox. The EP is set to be released via his Wilcassettes label and features 6 heavily 80's inspired joints that's been a year in the making and includes appearances members of Asobi Seksu, TV On The Radio, Antibalas, and others. Check out two tracks below, "N.I.C.E." and "Pink and Purple".
Charles Hamilton: "Long Socks" featuring Show Tufli
Charles Hamilton's debut album, This Perfect Life, has shown itself via cover art and tracklist. You'll notice that James Yancey aka J. Dilla is an executive producer on the soon to be digital and later physical release, not really sure how to take that one...Shake does though... The crew is offerring up 3 Perfect Songs for free download, and really it's just a matter of time before it's all out there. I was sent a track not included in the Perfect 3, and told to let it fly. I'm definitely digging it. The track is "Long Socks" and features Show Tufli. Grab it below.

F. Stokes: "My Letter To Kanye"
"So everybody make a toast to the man who influenced my generation the most."
Strong words from Mr. F. Stokes, who pens this verbal letter to Kanye West. Using the "Home Again" beat, Stokes retells a meeting with Kanye West, shouts out GL and Really Doe, and mentions the fashion sense of Mr. West. Good concept, done well, and clever marketing as Stokes attaches another solid joint to the end of his letter, a PS perhaps... Check it below...Stokes, let me know if Kanye writes back...
