You know…Damascus. The Gorillaz did a show in the Syrian capital at the Damascus Citadel which is an incredible fortress that is over 1,000 years old. Chris Albarn and the band apparently went to Damascus to record the National Orchestra for Arabic Music and put the material on “Plastic Beach.” Not many tours make stops in the “City of Jasmin” but the Murdoc Niccals, the Gorillaz bassist says that their performance, “shows that it is possible to perform there. This shouldn’t be a one-off gig—it shoul be the start of many, many bands.” Check out the performance at NPR
