RH Re-Up 7.2.10

The RH Re-Up returns as we get set for a nice 4th of July holiday weekend. We've dropped a lot of dope s**t this week (pun intended!) and while we take a little vacation, we give you more than enough to enjoy. Get into the week that was at RubyHornet via the Re-Up below. And when you see us again, we may just look a little bit different.
Outaisght: "Near The End" featuring Freddie Gibbs

Outasight is gearing up to release a new mixtape, Never Say Never. Here's the first leak from the project in the form of "Near The End" featuring Freddie Gibbs. The song is produced by Table For 6, and is a rock n' roll road trip where somewhere along the journey, Gangsta Gibbs hitches a ride. Download it below.
FFInc x Toy Tokyo

I'm told that Chicagoan ReggieKnow is the godfather of Hip Hop marketing, and legend has it, the creative force between Sprite's "Obey Your Thirst" campaign. His new joint is Fashion Figure Inc., producing 12" action figures based off the main characters in his animated series, "This Day". The pieces, as well as additional photographs will be on display Thursday July 8th at Toy Tokyo in New York City. The event will celebrate the launch of FFInc. as well as the 10 year anniversary of Toy Tokyo. More shots of the figures, the official event flyer, and as short trailer are all after the jump.
Cee-Lo Green: "No One's Gonna Love You" Video

Cee-Lo covers Band of Horses' "No One's Gonna Love You" as the UK bonus cut of his forthcoming LP, Lady Killer. This video is done exceptionally well, and looks like it was a blast to film. I must be upfront though and tell you that it does have some titty shots... Check it out below, I know you'll like it.
Snoop Dogg: "Pay Ya Dues" (G-Mix)

"Now you want respect, ay yo, you's a fool/ everybody wanna rap DJ, but they ain't paid dues."
I respect the quick come up as much as the next person, and I definitely support the youth trying to make things happen. What I feel needs to be really emphasized is that paying dues is not just bitch work being done for no purpose, or something to keep people down, it is really how to learn your trade and prove yourself. Without 'paying dues' you skip necessary steps, and in the end, don't have a true appreciation of your craft. Paying dues has changed drastically thanks to the internet and our faster paced society, and I'm afraid it comes at a disservice to everyone. A few weeks ago I was at a gig with a young DJ that was just so horrible I really did want to just push him off the turntables. It's too bad Rude 1 wasn't there cause he probably woulda done it...
Anyway, Snoop re-ups the classic cut from Aladdin as part of his forthcoming project Snoop Dogg Presents: My #1 Priority . Download it below.
So Motivational The Most Skullduggery of Mixtapes

Von Pea of Tanya Morgan dropped his solo mixtape yesterday. I was in "Happiness Before Riches" tunnel vision, so didn't get to post it up. But, tis a new day, and this is one mixtape I've looking forward to playing. Von is one of my favorite emcees, and knowing him and his flare of concepts, this mix is one not to be missed. It also supercedes his forthcoming solo release, Pea's Gotta Have It, which is dropping this fall.

Closed Sessions: "Happiness Before Riches" Official Video
July 1, 2010Closed Sessions,"Happiness Before Riches"Uncategorized
Forgive the long title, but a lot of hardwork and hands went into the making of the official video for "Happiness Before Riches" from our self-released EP, Closed Sessions Vol. 1. You've heard the story and seen the documentary on how the song came together, and the video has an equally compelling tale. The video was shot in Austin, Texas smack dab in the middle of our Closed Sessions Austin project. While at the house recording with Freddie Gibbs, GLC mentioned that Bun B was on his way to Austin and was down to shoot this music video. Time was of the essence, as we had to balance around the clock recording, as well as the hectic schedules of Bun and GLC, who were playing various shows at various times. Given less than 24 hours to come up with a concept, secure the proper equipment, and find girls, our video team of Virgil and Angel sprang into high gear and brought back a tremendous video for a great song.
So, without further ado, I give you the official video for "Happiness Before Riches" featuring Bun B, GLC, and BJ The Chicago Kid.
