Peedi Crakk: "Some Dynasty"

RTC and Peedi Crakk

Peedi Crakk's been one of my favorite emcees for a minute, just check out that old photo of me and him circa '07 at the PHLI Block Party.  Truck North's manager BJ told me he was locked up when they did a Closed Session with us last summer, and you may have seen over the web that Crakk was recently released and heading back into the studio.  He's got a deal with Joe Budden's favorite label, Amalgam Digital, and will be putting out material soon.  Today I found this new joint over at 2dbz.  Grab it below.

No Coincidence: Kanye, S1, and Rhymefest

Rhymefest

You know what's funny?  About 2 or 3 months ago I wrote an article that I never published.  The article was about Kanye's just released single "Power".  At the time, I didn't know it was called "Power" and I had no idea what it sounded like.  However, I did know that the song was produced by S1 of the Strange Fruit Project, and that was whole point of the piece.  While various big name producers like Rza, Pete Rock, Q-Tip were being mentioned as collaborators for Kanye's forthcoming album, nobody was talking about this S1 dude who was brought into the fold by Rhymefest.  I didn't publish the article at all because I thought it may damage whatever deal they were working on, and was advised to keep things quiet.  I was forced to choose between relationships and website hits, and I always choose the relationship.  Everytime.  Even earlier today I was on the phone with someone about what to reveal and what not to reveal regarding my info on how S1 got involved in Kanye's new album and how things went down.  With the song leaked, and the producer now known, I was ready to put out the whole story of how the two met and what it's been like working with each other, but again, decided to wait as it didn't seem like the timing was right.  Well, I guess the cat is out of the bag as S1 has opened up to MTV, letting everyone know that it was Rhymefest that brought S1 to Kanye's attention and has pretty much changed his life forever.  Check out the story he told MTV after the jump.

Just When I Was Ready To Cancel My Subscription...

Jay-Z

Rolling Stone has been Rolling on thin ice with me lately.  I'll admit they do hit the mark with an issue here and there, but the magazine has been playing like The White Sox since downsizing their cover.  They win a few to make you think they still got the magic, only to follow it up with a losing streak and underperforming power hitters.  Saving the subscription today is this piece of news that Jay-Z has penned the introduction to their new issue in which they name the 500 greatest songs of all time.  HypeTrak has the transcript, which I posted after the jump.

The RIngton Rap Project: "Shamrock Shake"

Shamrock Shake

We've been keeping tabs on Kyra Kyles' Ringtone Rap project in which she tries to show how easy it is to make mindless music.  Well, the project has reached its apex with the completion and release of K2's "Shamrock Shake".   The song was produced by Anton Genius, and also features Nikki Lynette as Nikki Massage.  While the song was made as a joke, the funny part is that it's actually kind of good at being bad.  Make sense?  I don't know, it is 5:55 on Friday... Anyway, congrats to Kyra on completing the Ringtone Rap Project.  Check out her creation below, and read/see more about it at her blog.
