[Album] Broken Bells: "After The Disco"
This is one release that I've personally been waiting on for awhile. Nearly four years have passed since DJ Danger Mouse and The Shins' James Mercer linked up for arguably one of 2010's best releases in their self-titled project, dubbed "Broken Bells." The project was an instant hit, and also the last we heard from the talented collaboration until songs starting eeking onto the Internet late last year, and the eventual announcement of a new album. That album, After The Disco, arrived today to rave reviews and is currently streaming over at iTunes. Take some time out of your day to give it a listen, or if not at least check out the promotional short films for the project that released a couple weeks ago.

[Songs Of The Day] 2/3/14 (Feat. Young Thug, Ellie Goulding, Big Boi & More)
And we're back for week two of our new daily feature on the site, "Songs of the Day". Starting February off on the right foot, we have a banger from Atlanta's Young Thug who demonstrates why he has the like of Kanye West raving about him, teaming up with Future and Rich Homie Quan for "Out My Face". We get a healthy dose of remixes once again, with re-workings of James Blake's "Life Round Here" from Ellie Goulding and Angel Haze, Rico Love showed off a packed lineup on his "They Don't Know" remix which features the likes of Ludacris, Trey Songz, Tiara Thomas, T.I. and Emjay. Robbie Brundell also tacks on his own rendition of Drake and Jhene Aiko's hit, "From Time". Australian EDM artist Will Sparks also delivers the first single off his upcoming, debut album in "Catch".
Hottest track of the day: Yasiin Bey, better known to the larger world as Mos Def, teamed up with a posthumous Marvin Gaye for what he calls "Yasiin Gaye" on this mash-up remix of Bey's 1997 track "Travelin' Man" and Gaye's 1971 hit "Inner City Blues" by producer Amerigo Gazaway. The track is infectiously soulful from beginning to end, making it our hottest track of the day.

[RH First Glance] DENA: "Bad Timing"
DENA is described as a "Berlin-via-Bulgaria heartthrob" with a "post-ironic take on R&B." Those are big words for an artist still finding her lane, but the eclectic, sultry songstress isn't so much a breath of fresh air as it is an easy illustration of a feeling; essentially what every artist should be striving for. "Bad Timing", with DENA's dry, literal vocals accented by well-timed harmonies, takes the listener through exactly what it's like to meet someone that seems so right, except for the situation in which the rendezvous took place.
Everyone's been there, not everyone can ruminate on the emotion the way she does here. The accented black and white visual accompaniment plays on the themes of the writing wonderfully, adding an appropriate medium from which to further understand both the artist and her message. The video is her first from her upcoming album, Flash, due out March 12 on K7. Check out the video for "Bad Timing" below.

[Video] Big Sean: "Ashley"
Big Sean has a well-d0cumented love affair with his current beau, Glee star Naya Rivera, whom he is currently engaged to be married. But, before Naya, there was Ashley. Allegedly the name of his former longtime girlfriend back in his hometown of Detroit, the song and the video detail a love lost, a relationship gone, a tell-tale heart of a track that examines feelings still held for another. Featuring Miguel and shot by directorial outfit Verluxe, both the visual and audio components of the working comes together flawlessly to create a world Sean seemingly existed in before meeting the current woman of his dream. Stream Kitty Cash's Latest Mix for SSENSE
Last month, when I had a chance to catch up with up and coming New York City DJ Kitty Cash on the heels of her well-received Love The Free mixtape she expressed her eagerness to get right back to work after having finished one project. "As soon as I was done, I was like, 'Damn, I can’t wait to work on part two'." Well, we got the latest from Kitty Cash last night as she continues to craft interesting and ear-catching mixes, this time for the likes of SSENSE. The piece of work brings together elements of airy 808s and features the likes of Kanye, Tinashe, Tamia, Sade and Beyonce to help you chill out while hiding indoors from the polar vortex. [Video] Spenzo: "Wife Er"
Chicago native Spenzo has seen his name pop up on radio stations and websites across the country on the strength of his 2013 Young Chop-produced hit single "Wife Er," off his latest project, In Spenzo We Trust. Last night, the track got a visual treatment that helps explains Spenzo's policy on women these days. The track is already burning up the streets here in Chicago, with a proper video alongside it, "Wife Er" may just become the next big hit to come out of Chicago recently.
