[Video] Jhene Aiko & Sampha Perform at Future Festival

BBC Radio 1 has been celebrating its Future Festival with a series of inspired performances from some of the tope rising acts across the music landscape and yesterday had Jhene Aiko & Sampha perform as part of the event. Aiko, whose performance followed appearances this week on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live, gave the audience a live rendition of her song, "The Worst". Playing on the ominous Drake theme in the room (both artists appear on Nothing Was The Same), Sampha took over to perform his sonically endearing song, "Too Much". There are few artists in hip-hop or otherwise who have a more full-stocked pop-culture lexicon than Chicago's own ShowYouSuck. [Video] Disclosure: "F For You Remix" (Feat. Mary J Blige)

Disclosure has spent 2014 touring the world, and expect to do so throughout much of the year. The other day, while in New York, the UK dance duo responsible for one of 2013's hottest albums in Settle, unveiled their latest collaboration, teaming up with R&B great Mary J. Blige for a remix of their track "F For You" The duo of Guy and Howard Lawrence did a three night layover in NYC, playing Terminal 5 on successive nights with openers Vic Mensa and Samo Sound Boy. On the final night of the three-night run, the brothers brought out none other than Mary J to perform the remix, unveiling it live at the performance. Proving we are most certainly in the Internet age, Disclosure made the remix available the other day, Beyonce-style, with full video treatment from the jump. The visual plays on the artistic aesthetic that Disclosure has created for itself in photos and artwork. Check it out, below.

[Video] Polica: "I Need $ / So Leave"

Polica made a name for itself over the course of the past calendar on the strength of their 2013 release, Shulamith,  which lead off with the memorable single, "Tiff" featuring Bon Iver himself, Justin Vernon. The album vaulted the synth pop act from Minneapolis, Minn., to national recognition seemingly overnight. Today, the pair of Ryan Olson and Channy Leaneagh decided to start the new year off right with a visual offering for a pair of tracks, unabashedly titled "I Need $" & "So Leave". Leaneagh straddles two roles in the video, as a hotel maid and herself, check out the full video streaming here below.

[RH First Glance] Tay Walker: "Karma"

Tay Walker is a keyboardist/vocalist for the breakthrough experimental electronic group The Internet, who made waves last year with their album, Feel Good, which found its way onto almost every year-end list there was for 2013. Not one to be impressed with that success, Walker is preparing to branch out into his own solo work and today dropped the video for his first single, "Karma," due out on his debut album, 25 Hours a Day which is expected sometime this Spring. The project is rumored to have features  from Mac Miller and Casey Veggies, and of course some production coming from The Internet compatriots, Syd The Kid and Harry Fraud. If "Karma" is any indication of what's ahead, Tay Walker may find himself on plenty of lists again this year. Check out the video, streaming below.

RatKing Announces Album With "Canal" Single

RatKing is an act I couldn't seem to hear enough about throughout last year. The New York trio took the indie music scene by storm in 2013, en route to playing Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Tx., and booking a set for this year's Coachella in Indio, California. The eclectic and begrudgingly different group, led by artist Wiki whose solo music was the first whiff anyone had of Ratking initially. Today, the crew announced the release date of their highly-anticipated debut project, So It Goes,  due out on XL Recordings with production allegedly coming from the likes of Young Guru. April 8 appears to be the day the masses can expect a proper release from the group, but they offered up their latest single, "Canal" to hold listeners over for the time being. Take note, Ratking will be around for awhile.

Peter CottonTale: "Suitcase Remix" (Feat. Vic Mensa & Chance The Rapper)

Yesterday, Chicago's SaveMoney squad dropped their much-delayed video for "Still Alive" and today, the clique gets another listing as Acid Rap and Innanetape producer Peter CottonTale gives Vic Mensa & Chance The Rapper's recent collaboration, "Suitcase" his own unique spin. Perhaps no one else could have given the track the kind of fitting twist than CottonTale, who has worked closely with both Mensa and Chance over the past year or so, helping to craft two immensely eclectically-unique sounds that can intertwine, as they do here, or venture off into wildly different paths.

While he has established himself while being a part of several successful ventures, there have been few, if any, solo releases from the producer responsible for Chance's "Brain Cells," making today's offering a special one. Different for CottonTale on this release is his use of samples, which are almost completely left off of his own production, opting instead for a instrumental aesthetic that has had many across the country pointing to the 22-year-old producer as bringing soul and jazz back to hip-hop. The "Suitcase" remix is a fully Chicago affair, with close friend OJ Hays providing the artwork. Check out the latest from CottonTale and co., streaming here below.
