2014 Music Festivals Announcement Round Up

Music festivals in America and abroad are beginning to hit critical mass. It's our generation's sign of approval to any artist if they find themselves on a bevy of festival lineups come summer, they're doing something right. Perhaps the most prevalent "music for the people" approach in the industry, festivals allow acts both large and small great opportunities for exposure and listeners the chance to attempt to take it all in. The spring/summer of 2014 is shaping up to be one of the largest festival seasons in recent memory and event organizers have wasted no time announcing jam-packed lineups that look more like an iTunes playlist than a real concert experience. We gathered together lineups from festivals from coast to coast and even beyond to give you the most full, in-depth guide to diving into festival season, check them all out on the following pages.

Full list of North Coast Music Festival 2013 artists announced

It's been a month since the last group of North Coast artists had been announced. Today, the entire lineup has been revealed for the Chicago summer's last stand in music festivals. Joining the recently announced list of artists that included NaS, Danny Brown, Mac Miller, Wu-Tang Clan, Midnight Conspiracy, and more are the indie-dance band Passion Pit, Fool's Gold's A-Trak, Gramatik, and a few others.

Now that all of the artists are set in stone, are you planning to check it out? I'm down for Wu-Tang and Danny Brown myself, but I'm open for some surprises. Remember, you can buy tickets for this year’s North Coast Music Festival here. The full lineup is below.

[Trailer 3] Pacific Rim + Gallery

This latest trailer for Guillermo del Toro's mecha epic, Pacific Rim, downplays the action found in the last trailer. Instead, Idris Elba's (Thor) character, the commanding officer Stacker Pentecost, delivers a speech to his team that serves as a framing device for the trailer. We've all seen it in a multitude of trailers: an optimistic, uplifting voiceover is played over a mix of both action-packed and dramatic sequences, building up a crescendo before some final, lasting image. Been there, done that, right? At least with Pacific Rim, there are huge monsters and robots.

Seriously, I can't get over how excited I am for the film, and from what I've seen around the internet and with fellow film critics/writers, it appears I'm not the only one. del Toro definitely deserves all of the acclaim Pacific Rim will, I'm assuming, receive from both critics and audiences. Included in this post are a few new stills from the film. You can find the full gallery of almost 60 new Pacific Rim images over at Collider.
