[Weekly Netflix Fix] Bill & Ted Are Back... Kinda
Despite being in the works for almost four years, the third film in the Bill & Ted franchise has yet to materialize. Can you really picture Keanu Reeves playing Ted again after all of his years of cynical, introspective characters? Neither can I, which is exactly why the third Bill & Ted film needs to come out. Thankfully, the first film in the franchise, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, is now on Netflix Instant. Everybody should watch it to show how popular and viable the franchise is, further pushing the odds of the third film coming out. Other recommendations this week include the James McAvoy-led Filth, Hey Arnold! The Movie, Le Week-End, and Your Sister's Sister.

[Weekly Netflix Fix] From Dusk Till Dawn TV Series Available
We had another huge addition of titles for the mid-month Netflix update. From my perspective, unless you're really into Criminal Minds, there might not be much here for you. My two recommendations this week are the TV series adaptation of Robert Rodriguez's From Dusk Till Dawn and Teenage, a documentary on a phase of life that didn't even always exist. Alex didn't care for it much in his review of the documentary, but I'm still very curious to see what it's about.

[Weekly Netflix Fix] End of the Month Dump
One thing I've realized since I started compiling these Netflix updates is how imbalanced the updates are. At the beginning of the month, Netflix comes correct with a large number of quality titles; however, as the month goes on, each subsequent update contains less and less titles of good quality. For the final July update, Netflix has left us with not much of anything worth noting. I'm singling out Lizzie Borden Took an Ax simply because it stars Christina Ricci. The Lifetime TV film is a biopic of Lizzie Borden's life, a suspected murderer acquitted of killing her father and stepmother in 1892.
August will be a better month for Netflix updates, I can guarantee it!
- Detective Dee & Mystery of Phantom Flame
- Lizzie Borden Took an Ax
- A Monster in Paris
- Soda Springs
- Southcliffe
- Airplane vs. Volcano
- Borrowed Time
- Christmas with the Kranks
- Eastern Bandits
- Evacuate Earth
- A Short History of Decay
- Continuum: Season 3
- The Den
- The French Minister
- It Felt Like Love
- Mickey Virus
[Weekly Netflix Fix] Another Filler Week
With July nearing a close, the second-to-last update for the month features a subpar number of worthwhile titles. As a fan of On the Road, my recommendation this week is the documentary Jack Kerouac: King of the Beats. For curiosity's sake, I'm going to watch an episode or two of Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, simply because I had no idea there was even a cartoon series on Pac-Man. If nothing is catching your eye, there's always last week's strong update to double dip in.
- FrackNation
- Hide and Seek
- Papirosen
- All Cheerleaders Die
- My Way to Olympia
- Peace, Love & Misunderstanding
- Redwood Highway
- The Samaritan
- When the Iron Bird Flies
- Weekend of a Champion
- The Ballad of Ramblin' Jack
- Jack Kerouac: King of the Beats
- McCanick
- Hell on Wheels: Season 3
- Bethlehem
- Gun Hill
- Baby Daddy: Season 3
- An American Girl: McKenna Shoots for...
- Authors Anonymous
- Dead in Tombstone
- Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures: Season 1
Beyonce Back on HBO with New Concert Mini-Series
Beyonce’s making a return back to HBO, following up her Life Is But a Dream documentary with a 10-episode mini-series publicizing concerts off of her Mrs. Carter Show world tour. The shows will consist of a multitude of four-minute segments called Beyoncé: X10 and will air on HBO on June 29th at 8:55PM EST as a lead-in to episodes of the final season of True Blood. The documentary is 40 minutes in total, and will most likely be launched as a package at a future date.
Each episode on Beyoncé: X10 will feature a different city that the tour has been filmed in, and will incorporate songs such as “Partition,” “Blow,” “XO,” “Ghost/Haunted,” “Girls,” and others. Short but sweet, Beyoncé’s mini-concert series will add to her empire and continue to demonstrate how this girl strives to run the world.

Quentin Tarantino Plans to Release Four-Hour Cut of Django Unchained as TV Miniseries
Quentin Tarantino is a man of ideas, sometimes too many ideas. After shooting 2012's Django Unchained, Tarantino was left with over 90 minutes of unused footage that hasn't been seen. Rather than simply include them in a special Director's Cut release of Django Unchained, the famed director has his sight set on something much more ambitious. During a press conference to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Pulp Fiction's debut at the Cannes Film Festival, Tarantino had this to say about the extra Django Unchained footage:
I have about 90 minutes worth of material with Django. It hasn’t been seen. My idea, frankly, is to cut together a four-hour version of Django Unchained. But I wouldn’t show it like a four hour movie. I would cut it up into hour chapters. Like a four-part mini-series. And show it on cable television. Show it like an hour at a time, each chapter [...] We’d use all the material I have and it wouldn’t be an endurance test. It would be a mini-series. And people love those. People roll their eyes at a four-hour movie. But a four-hour mini-series that they like, then they are dying to watch all four parts. That’s how I thought it could work.
It's a sound idea as it allows Tarantino to explore another medium that would better fit his vision. Depending on how successful the miniseries does, he'd probably double dip and release it in a box set complete with some extra special goodies. Furthermore, it could potentially keep the door open for a home media release of the full Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair. Considering Tarantino's friendship with fellow director Robert Rodriguez, we could probably see the Django Unchained miniseries on the latter's El Rey Network.

[Mixtape] Game of Thrones: "Catch The Throne"
Well, apparently hip-hop is big in King's Landing too. If there was one show that had its fair share of buzz going into the Spring debut season, HBO's 'Game of Thrones' certainly isn't one of them. The return of the highly popular show has been eagerly awaited by fans, teased by the cable channel and popped up in its fair share of pop culture references. Well, now King Joffrey, Daenaryus and Littlefinger will have a more contemporary soundtrack over which to go about their land grabbing and battles. Featuring the likes of Big Boi, Wale, Kilo Kish and Dadee Yankee, among others, the mixtape could very well represent the point at which the release vessel jumps the ship. Sure, we've seen everyone from Michelle Obama to Migos drop projects for free on the Internet, maybe HBO has taken it too far, although you can't fault the artists for getting that publishing money. Check out the full project below, 'Game of Thrones' hits TVs April 3.
