Tony Jaa in The Protector 2

[Video] RZA and Tony Jaa Brawl in The Protector 2 Clip

The trailer for The Protector 2 featured Muay Thai, real-life Sagat Tony Jaa kicking ass... lots and lots of ass. While the film has been available on iTunes and On Demand for some time now, it'll be receiving a theatrical release on May 2nd. To help build up some extra hype for its big screen debut, a new clip has been released featuring Jaa brawl with the one, the only, The RZA.

It's no secret that The RZA has been a huge fan of martial arts films, but now he's getting his hands dirty, portraying the main antagonist in The Protector 2. He might not be as technically proficient as most other action stars, but there's a certain level of entertainment to see The RZA go toe to toe against Tony Jaa, one of action films' best current martial artists.

Enjoy the clip and catch The Protector 2 in theaters on May 2nd. If you're jonesing for more RZA on Jaa action, you can find the film on iTunes and On Demand right now.

Chris Pratt as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy

[Video] Extended Look at Guardians of the Galaxy's Star-Lord

After seeing Captain America: The Winter Soldier this past weekend, I walked out of the theater a bit underwhelmed. That's not to say the film wasn't good, but it didn't really take any risks. Guardians of the Galaxy, however, represents Marvel Studios' biggest challenge since the imprint started producing their own films. The team isn't exactly full of household names, and the space setting is vastly different from what's been established in prior Marvel films (even more so than the Thor films' Asgard). However, I think it's a gamble that will pay off exponentially for the company this summer. Following the film's first trailer, this first clip is an extended look at the opening scene featuring Chris Pratt as Star-Lord. There isn't much new footage in this clip, but it offers up enough to satiate anybody's curious interest.

Guardians of the Galaxy will be in theaters on August 1st.

Emmy Rossum and Fatima Ptacek from Before I Disappear

[SXSW Interview] Emmy Rossum and Fatima Ptacek (Before I Disappear)

[Ruby Hornet will be covering SXSW from March 7th to March 16th. Follow along as we bring you exclusive film reviews, photos, daily features, and interviews with filmmakers, actors, and musicians!]

Before I Disappear was a huge hit at SXSW 2014, winning the SXSW Film 2014 Audience Award in the Narrative Feature Competition category. This doesn't come as a huge surprise, considering the film is based on the short film Curfew, which itself won the Academy Award for Best Short Film - Live Action in 2013.

Returning for the feature-length film was Curfew actress Fatima Ptacek. Joining her this time around is Shameless star Emmy Rossum. During SXSW, we had the chance to interview the duo about their roles in the film, as well as what it was like to adapt such a successful short into an equally successful feature length film.

Watch the full video interview with Emmy Rossum and Fatima Ptacek below, and expect more from Before I Disappear later this week. Enjoy!

Concept art of The Avengers: Age of Ultron's Scarlet Witch

[Video] New Concept Art for The Avengers: Age of Ultron Revealed

Yesterday, Marvel revealed some behind the scenes concept art for their upcoming 2015 blockbuster, The Avengers: Age of Ultron. The first looks at the designs for Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) are the most promising, as Disney is adapting their character designs in a significantly better way than Fox is with their out of touch, techno take on Quicksilver for X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Also revealed in the video is art of The Hulk and Black Widow, plus Iron Man's Hulkbuster armor. Sounds like an Iron Man vs. The Hulk fight is being set and prepped for Age of Ultron; it might not be able to top the funny Thor vs. The Hulk fight from The Avengers, but anytime Iron Man has to bust out the Hulkbuster armor is no laughing matter.

You can watch the video grab below, as well as a better look at the aforementioned concept art of The Hulk, Black Widow, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch.

Promotional image from the HUVr Tech

[Video] HUVr Tech Wants You to Believe Hoverboards Are Real

Ever since Back to the Future Part II was released in 1989 (and perhaps even before then), hoverboards have been a dream for both impressionable young men and science fiction fans. What's there NOT to love about skateboarding without wheels, to have the ability to float in-air with nothing but your own momentum to move you along? There have been many hoverboard announcements in the years since Marty McFly went back to the future, but never have any of them been real... until now.

...or not. Earlier today, a company called HUVr Tech released a video demonstrating their own version of the Back to the Future Part II hoverboard, complete with a star-studded cast testing the new tech out. Famous pro skateboarder Tony Hawk, former football star Terrell Owens, Schoolboy Q, actress Agnes Bruckner, Moby, and Doc Brown himself Christopher Lloyd are featured in the video, sharing laughter and excitement as they're taken off of the ground.

Of course, the video is fake, utilizing some clever CGI and editing techniques. However, the real question (and my main source of interest) remains: Exactly what is HUVr Tech advertising? With the heavy push of a mobile app ("coming soon" as seen on the HUVr Tech website), this admittedly interesting video has definitely made waves across the internet. My bet is on the promotion of Tony Hawk's new mobile-exclusive video game, which was announced last week. However, major entrepreneur Mark Cuban is also involved with the company, and a mobile game isn't exactly the type of stuff Cuban typically backs.

Honestly, I'm erring on the side of clever viral marketing, but in the very very slim chance that the HUVr Tech is, in fact, legitimate, I'll probably be one of the first people to pre-order. Watch the video below and find out for yourselves!

Photo shot as part of the Project Yosemite.

[Video] Watch this time-lapse video from Yosemite National Park

I'm a sucker for time lapse videos. The dedication and intricate level of detail that goes into making them go far beyond the short period of time the videos run for. Take, for instance, this new time-lapse video shot from the Yosemite National Park. Shot by photographers Colin Delehanty and Sheldon Neill, Project Yosemite began in January 2012 as a join project between the two where they hiked more than 200 miles over the course of 10 months to capture images for the video, which can be seen below.

Set to an M83 song, "Lower Your Eyelids to Die with the Sun," the video shares some of the amazing landscape Delehanty and Neill shot. It's hard to believe that the video consists of a plethora of continuous shots to make up one seamless video (outside of the scene changes, of course). Find five minutes of your day to watch the Project Yosemite video, because it's definitely awe-inspiring and probably the most beautiful thing you'll witness today.

To learn more about Project Yosemite, be sure to visit the pair's official website and donate some money to help preserve the Yosemite National Park.

[Video] Glass Animals: "Gooey"

British four-piece Glass Animals has released a new music video for the smooth and glossy single "Gooey." The track is off of their upcoming EP, Gooey, produced by Paul Epworth and due out in April via The Harvest Imprint.

Strange and intriguing, the video follows individuals who immediately transform into their most unrestricted, strongest, and best selves after they ingest some sort of slimy substance in one way or another. The whirling synth, lo-fi beats, and lurid vocals put you in a dream-like state. Catch a buzz from the new single "Gooey."

St. Vincent Birth In Reverse

[Video] St. Vincent Performs On 'The Colbert Report'

St. Vincent AKA Annie Clark  just released her eccentric fourth full-length, self-titled record, St. Vincent. Clark is exploding out of herself, bringing her strange, yet dazzling sound to new levels.

St. Vincent performed some of her new material after a comical and informative interview with Stephen Colbert. Colbert asked about "getting" the new album, highlighted Clark's genius, and commented on her Einstein-style hair-do.

Check out St. Vincent performing "Birth In Reverse," below and download the track for free here.
