Film To Be Used For Jurassic World Production
Colin Trevorrow will be defying the laws of modern filmmaking by taking a leap to the Jurassic times himself. The director announced that his new film, Jurassic World, will be captured on film, with a portion of it being shot on large 65mm film stock. John Schwartzman will be the cinematographer of the long anticipated Jurassic Park production.
The film is expected to begin shooting in New Orleans on June 2nd for 11 weeks. However, the crew will be spending six weeks in Hawaii before this, which will be split by four weeks in Oahu and two weeks in Kauai.
The film is set to be released on June 12, 2015.
Welcome to Yesterday not welcome, delayed indefinitely
No matter how enticing a film's trailer may be, how amazing a film's director is, how talented the actors are, without the proper advertising/marketing, it'll fall to the wayside to the many other films getting a proper push. When the trailer for Welcome to Yesterday was released in December, I was sold on it. After all, I'm a sucker for time travel films, and the film carried a similar tone to Chronicle, one of my best sleeper hits of recent memory. However, after that initial trailer release, there was nothing. Much more news came out of producer Michael Bay's camp in regards to Transformers: Age of Extinction, but come on... that's Transformers.
Rather than rushing the film to release (its theatrical release was originally set for February 28th), Bay has decided to delay the film, wanting to give it a personal look-over. Also abetting the release is the aforementioned lack of advertising, which will be handled by MTV Films going forward. The film is assumedly complete, but will still be delayed to either summer or fall to ensure audiences are even aware of it. While any film delay is a tough pill to swallow, especially for a film you're anticipating, this is the right move to make by Bay and the studio. Welcome to Yesterday shows some promise, and that potential is thankfully being noticed by the important higher-ups.

[Video] Pussy Riot Visits The Colbert Report
One of the biggest stories to hit the international registry over the past few years was the jailing of the all-woman punk rock band Pussy Riot by the Russian government in early March following a wild punk-inspired protest at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior of the Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow. The court case garnered international attention as the world's focus narrowed on human rights abuses by the Kremlin, making the three imprisoned Pussy Riot members international celebrities in the process.
Russia is again in the spotlight as of late, the twenty-second running of the Winter Olympic games begins in Sochi, Russia in just two days. On December 23, 2013, the last two members of Pussy Riot, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina, were released from prison. The release was viewed by many as a public relations move for the regime, plagued by allegations of human rights abuses towards women and homosexuals, as well as several explosions that rocked train stations near the site of the games last month. Upon her release, Alyokhina said to the New York Times, "I think this is an attempt to improve the image of the current government, a little, before the Sochi Olympics — particularly for the Western Europeans. But I don't consider this humane or merciful. This is a lie." Tolokonnikova added, "Whether one likes it or not, going to the Olympics in Russia is an acceptance of the internal political situation in Russia, an acceptance of the course taken by a person who is interested in the Olympics above all else — Vladimir Putin." The trio, who have vowed to not perform musically anymore, appeared last night on The Colbert Report to discuss their experiences and what's next for them and Russia proper. Watch the video below.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman's Death To Have Little Impact On Hunger Games
The late Phillip Seymour Hoffman's passing caused many who knew him sorrow from his loss. However, it has been reported by Lionsgate that his tragic departure fails to affect much of the Hunger Games trilogy's final stretch with Mockingjay.
Playing the former gamemaker turned rebel leader Plutarch Heavensbee, it appears that Hoffman was done with his performances for the film before his death. Lionsgate said that with the exception of one scene that has yet to be released to the public, there remains no need to work around his absence.
"We're all extraordinarily sad," said the executive of Lionsgate to The Hollywood Reporter. "But as it relates to production, it's going to have no impact. Obviously, we're going to have a couple of work-around issues but the movie will be creatively whole. His performances in both [remaining] movies will be up to the best of his craft. We feel it will be a good tribute to him."
The final two films are still set to premiere at their intended times, with Mockingjay -- Part One to premiere in November, with the second part to be released in November 2015.
Hoffman was found dead in his New York City apartment on the morning of February 2 of an apparent drug overdose. The award winning actor of Capote, The Big Lebowski, The Master, and other major cinematic works, was born in Fairport, New York and pursued an interest in acting since he was in high school. He leaves behind three young children with ex-partner and fashion designer Maggie O'Donnell. He was 46.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill reuniting for another film
The Wolf of Wall Street best friends Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill were already linked to co-produce a proposed TV series based on Q-Tip's life, had a bromantic moment on SNL recently, and are now set to reunite on the big screen. Deadline is reporting that 20th Century Fox has acquired the rights to a Vanity Fair article about a security guard, Richard Jewell, who was hailed as a hero after finding a backpack filled with explosives at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, but was then quickly vilified when the media painted him as a potential suspect.
Hill is set to portray Jewell, while DiCaprio will play a lawyer that helped Jewell through the ordeal. The article, which you can read here, focuses not only on Jewell, but how the rise of 24-hour news media was quick to point the finger at him before evidence cleared his name. Depending on the creative team that takes on the film (no writers/directors have been announced), I could envision this film being just as much a comment on the overindulgence of 24-hour news networks and general audiences that lay blame before all of the facts are cleared as it would be highlighting Jewell's personal journey. Furthermore, it appears that the film would be a vehicle for Hill to further display his dramatic chops, perhaps as a way for DiCaprio to groom him into the next great dramatic actor.
This sounds like a great film to keep track of over the next few months as more details are confirmed and announced.

HBO looking for aspiring diverse filmmakers through HBOAccess
Are you an aspiring, diverse filmmaker? If so, HBO is looking for you! Through their recently announced HBOAccess program, HBO will be accepting four entrants to take part in a four-week-long program to develop some shorts through HBO's various avenues, including their YouTube page, HBO Go, and their cable channel. The chosen entrants will be paired with a member of the HBO development team to create, develop, and produce a short in Los Angeles. However, the company isn't liable for flight and lodging, which is a bummer.
To enter, simply follow the guidelines on the official HBOAccess Withoutabox page. The company will be taking entries from now until March 3rd. Take note: The fine print for the application defines "diversity" as "those who identify as Asian Pacific American, Sub-Continent Asian Americans, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, and women."
Good luck to all who may enter!

[Video] The Amazing Spider-Man 2 "Enemies Unite"
Following last week's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Super Bowl teaser, Sony released a full-on video detailing Electro's (Jamie Foxx) origins, as well as a look at Dane DeHaan's take on Harry Osborn. The video, entitled "Enemies Unite," focuses mostly on Electro, but also hints at a unified villain group backed by Oscorp (as was mentioned with the announcement of a planned "Sinister Six" series of spin-off films). There are only a few more months until The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theaters!
