With the holiday season upon us, it's easy to just overindulge in all the good food and treats that we forget that there's this thing called exercise. After a length of absences, it can be kind of difficult to get motivated to get back into the routine of things, and that's what Goji Play wants to change. It's a lot easier to stay on the couch and play video games, and with the Goji Play, you can turn your workouts into a video game.
Essentially, the Goji Play is a pair of controllers that lets you play via wireless sensors that monitors your activity while you work out. With an accompanying iPad app, it turns your once boring cardio machine into a video game. Check out the video below. For more information on the Goji Play, head on over to Blue Goji here.

[Trailer] Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Taking place ten years after the Planet of the Apes reboot, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes features a war-torn landscape in which humans and primates have been fighting following Caesar's coup in the previous film. With presumably the world's entire primate population made intelligent from the ALZ-112 gas, Caesar's primate revolution has grown to a staggeringly large number, causing the human survivors to ask for a truce. Somehow, the peace is quickly ended, and the war rages on.
Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In) has taken over the directing role from Rise's Rupert Wyatt. As a huge fan of Cloverfield, I want to see how Reeves' vision has shaped the rebooted franchise; unfortunately, this teaser trailer is too short to give any real hints. Outside of Reeves' involvement, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes looks somewhat bland, like yet another post-apocalyptic, ravaged world where the humans must fight against a supernatural "external" threat. With James Franco and Frieda Pinto not part of the sequel, either, I fear that franchise will just become another generic cash cow reboot.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will be in theaters next July.
Pharrell Signs to Columbia, Announces Solo Album

As everyone has been talking 'best of the year' as 2013 comes to a close, it's safe to say few people in music had as much of an impact from January to December than the genius himself, Pharrell Williams. Today, the producer interestingly announced his signing with Columbia Records, along with plans for a solo album, which according to Complex will include the song "Happy", for which Pharrell put together a 24-hour music video for. For now, a release date is simply sometime in 2014.
It's odd that at this point in his career Pharrell would make a move like this. For one, artists with drastically less resources and money are skirting record labels and finding great success (see: Chance The Rapper). The other side of things is the fact that we've never heard a solo album from the former N.E.R.D. frontman. Hooks, sure. Playing a show at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago a couple of months ago while on tour with Waka Flocka Flame, Borgore and Steve Aoki, Pharrell simply walked about the stage first singing Frontin', a song that was my Virgin Mobile ringtone back in eighth grade before launching into a series of hooks that he sang between the recorded verses he book-ended. Perhaps it was this experience of realizing he forgot to save some beats for himself that prompted the move. Whatever the case, this just became one of the most anticipated releases heading into the new year.
Grimes Signs to Roc Nation

Canadian electro-pop sensation Grimes announced today that she has signed with Jay-Z's Roc Nation imprint. It's becoming the chic thing to do lately, as Grimes joins a roster that already boasts M.I.A., Santigold, and HAIM, alongside his stable of superstar producers and athletes which include Robinson Cano who signed a 10-year, $240 million contract with the Seattle Mariners last week at Jay's behest.
Few artists have been as prepared for a second act as the man who brought us "Encore". Already wealthy and powerful beyond his wildest dreams growing up in the Marcy Projects of Brookyln, Jay-Z is establishing himself as much more than just a businessman, entertainer or talent scout-he's all of that and more. While his rapping has certainly gotten less poignant since his "retirement" with The Black Album. Beyonce proved earlier this month that they are easily the most powerful couple in music today, if Jay keeps signing up all the talent he may not relinquish that throne soon.
Ultra Music Festival Announces Packed 2014 Lineup

Ultra Music Festival is the annual Electronic Dance Music super-festival that is easily the largest such event, outside of EDC Las Vegas and Tomorrowland/world. For the sixteenth installment of the neon-splattered mega-rave, organizers went a bit, H.A.M. The first phase of 2014's installment of Ultra Music Festival includes a who's who of artists in the EDM world, including the likes of Armin Van Buuren, Afrojack, Kaskade, Avicii, Krewella and MixMag's No. 1 DJ in the world, Hardwell, who top a packed list.
An interesting tweak at Ultra Music Festival is the split between a DJ and Live lineup. The live lineup has grown and this year includes M.I.A, MGMT, Cut/Copy, Empire of the Sun and Pusha T. I've written about a lot of festivals with over the top lineups, but Ultra may have pushed the envelope another step forward, it's hard to imagine there could be more phases of artist added. The full list of performers can be found below, it may take you a minute to digest the entire situation.
The festival will take place March 28-30 at Bayfront Park in Miami. While VIP tickets have sold out, you can still drop a cool $399.95 for General Admission tix here. Check out a recap video of last year's Ultra and the full list of performers, below.

Today listeners got a treat from two of the most soulful up and coming acts in the Chicago market. With a heavy helping of Christmas spirit, Lili K & The O'My's linked up to produce their own version of the timeless wintertime classic. The song, premiered today on Okayplayer, is a perfect crossroads for the 22-year-old songstress, Lili K, who released a Christmas-themed single last year with frequent collaborator Peter CottonTale and earlier this year dropped a project of her own eclectic takes on classic Jazz standards in My Favorite Things. The O'My's, who closed out their year with the release of their album, A Humble Masterpiece, are who you thought they were, setting the backdrop for a beautiful interplay between frontman Maceo Haymes and Lili K's voices. Check out the song below.

[Trailer] Rob the Mob

Who would have the audacity to rob the mob? Apparently, in 1992 New York City, one couple took it upon themselves to, well... Rob the Mob. Directed by Raymond de Felitta (City Island), Rob the Mob is based on a true story of Thomas (Michael Pitt) and Rosemarie Uva (Nina Arianda), a psuedo-Bonnie and Clyde pair that targeted Mafia clubs. As their notoriety grew, so did national coverage of their antics. First ignored by a family head (Andy Garcia), they find themselves stuck between the FBI and the Mafia when they incidentally uncover a mob secret that could take down the organized crime syndicate once and for all.
The crime-thriller looks like an intriguing film that appeases gangster film fans. I admit, I'm not familiar with de Felitta's past work, but this trailer for Rob the Mob has me hooked. Here's hoping it can actually deliver when it's released in theaters on March 21st, 2014.
#100Trill: "Sharkeisha" (Feat. Weasel Sims)

Today, we have the latest from the duo of producer Mike Jaxx and rapper Grade Aplus, together known as #100Trill. The pair keep us busy, with music coming seemingly every week and the constant practice certainly pays off on their latest track, "Sharkeisha" featuring Weasel Sims. In talking about the record, Jaxx said, "Basically, this record is just me and my homies having fun and my guys Weasel Sims said it made him relapse super heavy." We'll have to wait for more clarification on the second half of that, but "Sharkeisha" is most definitely worth a listen, featuring a certain Migos-inspired ad-lib and cadence at points. The track is also the first single off #100Trill's upcoming project, Muzik 2 Check Yo Bitch To, tentatively slated for an appropriate Valentine's Day release. Check out "Sharkeisha" below.
