Introducing The Mophie Space Pack

The iPhone has a sleek design and aesthetic appeal, but with its good looks comes the need for protection. It only takes one bad drop for the device to shatter and completely ruin your day. I've been a fan of Mophie since I first heard of the company, and their case's provide protection and charges my iPhone when I need it most.

Now they have created another case to solve another problem we face with the iPhone: lack of storage. They have introduced the Mophie Space Pack that not only provides extra battery life, but extra storage with either a 16GB or 32GB case to choose from. There's no need to trash your photos, videos, games, or apps anymore because just save everything to the space pack. With the accompanying app, you'll have an easy to use file management system in the palm of your hand. With Airplay and Airdrop integration, you can easily access any kind of file at anytime which is a pretty sweet feature. The Mophie Space Pack is available for pre-order at $149.95 (16GB) and $179.95 (32GB) with shipping to begin mid-March of this year, so check out Mophie for more info here.

[Trailer] Don Peyote

[iframe id="http://movies.yahoo.com/video/don-peyote-trailer-192044452.html?format=embed&player_autoplay=false"]

Don Peyote is a surreal look at one man's life after an unexplained act sets him along a path of enlightenment. Of course, when you attempt to open people's mind's eyes, you inevitably end up looking crazy, as is the case for main character Warren Allman (Dan Fogler). Don Peyote looks weird, confusing, and undeniably interesting. With a supporting cast that includes Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables), Jay Baruchel (This is the End), Josh Duhamel (Safe Haven), the potential for a solid, rainy night film is there. However, it's hard to look past the very reasonable chance that Don Peyote could very well be completely underwhelming.

We can all find out when the film is released in May.

Pete Nice: An MC's Photo Album Circa 1986-1991

In the mid-'80's and early '90s, the rap world was a fun time because of the potential the music had, and if you were alive in the early days you have seen the evolution to what it has become today. For a person like myself, the once up and comers in the game have gone on to become legends and have heavily influenced the artists we listen to now. During that time frame, you were getting a glimpse of the impact rap music would have on the world and how it would stamp its mark on popular culture.

For those of you that weren't alive to see this evolution and for those that want to take a trip down memory lane, I thought I'd share some photos from Peter Nash AKA Prime Minister Pete Nice of the group 3rd Bass. The photos are a collection of random photos from his rap career when he was hanging with Gilbert Gottfried on video sets with the likes of LL Cool J, Eazy E, Run DMC, and a host of others. It's a cool collection of photos that takes you back to the early days and is filled with many of Prime Minister Pete Nice's memories.

[Video] Donnie Trumpet: "Don't Leave" (Feat. Vic Mensa)

Chicago's own Donnie Trumpet stays busy. After last week, which saw him drop a project, Loopie, and appear on Mike Golden's song "Hey Jane" with fellow Save Money member Vic Mensa, Donnie is back with a video for "Don't Leave", another turn with Mensa handling the rap end of things. The video, shot by Naveen Chaubel, is a bit of a mystical dream that starts off with a ballerina performing at the foot of his bed, beckoning him to stay, as he knows he has to walk away. The experience leads to a very ethereal, zero gravity moment of reconciliation and reflection that is especially on point thanks to the talented director, Chaubel. This is the second time in a week that we've heard something new from the pair of former Kids These Days members, who have blossomed over the past year in their own individual lanes that have continued to get bigger by the day. Start your day off right with some Donnie Trumpet and Vic Mensa, "Don't Leave" streaming below.

Like the video? Catch Donnie at his "Farewell Show" next week in Chicago, check out the flyer for info below!

Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill developing TV series with Q-Tip

The chemistry between Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio in last year's The Wolf of Wall Street was palpable, as praised heavily in my review of the film. Apparently, that chemistry extended itself to at least a partnership beyond the camera as Deadline is reporting the two co-stars are developing a TV series with The Abstract himself, Q-Tip. The proposed series will be inspired by the iconic rapper's life during the '80s and '90s during the Native Tongues era with a focus on friendship and how the Afrocentric, conscious style of hip hop influenced the genre and culture from then to even modern times.

Q-Tip has been extremely busy as of late, dropping the long-awaited collaborative project The Dragon and The Abstract with Busta Rhymes, as well as playing the (supposedly) final A Tribe Called Quest shows ever as part of Kanye West's Yeezus Tour. A TV show influenced by the Native Tongues era is an amazing idea that can introduce the "Golden Era" of hip hop to current fans who may not be aware of it.

As of right now, no cast or crew has been announced for the series, but the three will be pitching the series to all of the networks soon.

Everybody is on their phone.  Thousands of people everyday wear out their thumbs scrolling through photos, deciding which ones to post on Instagram. It’s so easy to do whether you’re a photographer or not; just point, shoot, choose a filter and post whatever you created. From  funny duck face selfies, to breathtaking landscapes, to gritty city streets. Some use it as visual journal giving glimpses of their lives, while others have taken it to another level by creating works of art. All of us at Ruby Hornet are fans of the social media platform and decided to do a weekly series  highlighting people whose Instagrams stand above the rest. Let us know in the comments section if you’d like to be featured, or let us know about some other cool Instagrams. Be sure to follow Ruby Hornet Instagram, too.

This week’s featured Instagram comes from @luckymaria. I really dig this gallery because of the composition of the various landscape shots that Maria captures. When you take a look at the way each image is framed, you really get a sense of what she sees through her iPhone lens as if you were there. Sure, you'll get some great landscape shots, but you'll see her put some cool twists to them as she shows off her creativity. This account is definitely worth checking out, so take a look at a few of her photos and make sure you hit the follow button for some awesome imagery.

Owls: "I'm Surprised"

From the ashes of Cap'n Jazz's break-up in 1995 rose the Chicago band, Owls, from 2001-2002. Consisting of Cap'n Jazz members Tim Kinsella, Mike Kinsella, Sam Zurick, and Victor Villareal (Davey von Bohlen was pre-occupied with The Promise Ring), the band picked up where Cap'n Jazz left off with their patented math rock-inspired brand of emo/post-hardcore. After the release of their self-titled album in 2001, Owls broke up, only to reunite in 2012.

Earlier this week, Owls announced their plans to release another LP, Two, this March. Along with the project's announcement was their first single, "I'm Surprised," which you can listen to below. The Cap'n Jazz tree of musicians is still going strong after all of these years, with Tim Kinsella active with Joan of Arc, and his collaboration with Leroy Bach and Marvin Tate, Mike Kinsella with Joan of Arc, Owen, and Their/They're/There, Victor Villareal with his solo music and Joan of Arc, and Sam Zurick with Joan of Arc.

With Owls active once again, maybe Davey could find some free time and join the guys for a second, short Cap'n Jazz reunion run. If only, if only...

[Video] "Don't Talk or Text" PSA featuring Siri

The anti-phone policies at the Alamo Drafthouse are no joke. Whether they're expressed through funny "Don't Talk or Text" PSA videos (recently featuring the cast of The World's End and Before Midnight) or banning Madonna, the powers that be behind the Alamo take the film experience very seriously. Yet, there are still those general filmgoers who would rather ruin the experience for everybody rather than stepping aside or waiting to return a text or call.

It's gotten to a point where the iPhone's Siri has become sentient, as illustrated in this brilliant new "Don't Talk" PSA. Maybe the next time you consider texting or making a call through your iPhone, you'll think better of it. Siri knows all of your secrets, after all. Check out the video below!
