Instagram finally coming to Windows Phones in a few weeks
Finally, Windows Phone owners can express their terribly composed selfies and cafe meals in a few weeks when Instagram becomes available for Microsoft OS phones. There's no exact date on when the app will officially release, but it'll be in time for users to add filters to their turkey stuffing and Black Friday hauls. Of course, the launch will probably coincide with the rumored appearance of advertisements showing up in feeds. Thanks a lot, Windows Phone users.

The Weekly Swarm: 10/14 - 10/20
What a great week at Ruby Hornet. Madonna was banned from all Alamo Drafthouses for texting during 12 Years a Slave, I reviewed a billion films screening at the Chicago International Film Festival, Wes Anderson's first trailer for The Grand Budapest Hotel was released, Lili K remixed Rockie Fresh's "Something Special," we took a look at the BET Awards and their cyphers, Drake kicked off, then took Future back for his tour, Emily Ratajkowski posed in some hot photo spreads, and Pokemon sold over 4,000,000 copies, amongst other things. However, big news came out when it was announced Chance the Rapper would be touring with Eminem, which is amazing news for the young Chicago product. 2013 and 2014 are your years, young Chano! The rest of Ruby Hornet's content from this past week is below.

[Video] Tinder: The Movie
Let me preface this post by saying that I wasn't aware of Tinder's existence until a couple of weeks ago. Equal parts OK Cupid, Let's Date, and Hot or Not, Tinder is an app that scans your current GPS position for Tinder users within the vicinity. Users can then choose or pass on potential new friends/lovers/one night stands/hook-ups/etc. If two people choose each other, they're allowed to send messages for their nightly moments of (presumably) drunken shenanigans.
The sketch comedy group Bad Weather Films made a funny web short, Tinder: The Movie, highlighting the funnier side of the app, referencing and alluding to The Social Network in the process. Whether you're a Tinder veteran or still in Tindergarten, there's something to like in Tinder: The Movie. Just remember: your explicit use of Tinder doesn't mean you're good at talking to people; you're just good at finding those around you that are just as desperate.

[Video] CGV's ScreenX: The future of cinema or another theatrical gimmick?
South Korean theater chain CGV is attempting to revolutionize the theater viewing experience with their ScreenX theaters. By utilizing three screens spread across the walls of a theater, ScreenX is pitched as being a more immersive viewing experience for both audiences and filmmakers alike. The pitch revolves around a 270-degree view of the separate screens for audiences to take in more of the film from their peripheral view, creating a 3D-like effect. ScreenX aspires to be the "world's first multi-projection system integrated into a theater," but being the first doesn't always mean being the best.
First and foremost, by implementing two additional screens to line the side walls of a theater, the seating arrangement would have to be altered and potentially lowered to adapt to the additional screens. By doing this, the number of tickets sold for these presumably high-priced films will be considerably less than a traditional screen can offer. Furthermore, the options for ScreenX films will be limited, given its relatively new introduction. Simply put, incorporating ScreenX technology to films involves a bigger production budget and schedule, including extra cameras, production problems such as figuring out new scenes to compensate for potential camera visibility in the existing scenes, and more. Director Kim Jee-woon directed a short film, The X, to illustrate how ScreenX works. However, when asked about the process to create it, he responded, "Making such a movie was like hell and nightmare."
CGV will be expanding internationally next year, so the United States' first domestic experience with ScreenX may not take place until next summer at the earliest. However, would you actually be interested in it? Considering it took this year's Gravity to truly revolutionize 3D films, I don't see ScreenX picking up much steam. As open as I am to furthering technology in both films and cinemas, I don't think ScreenX is the right move. Prove me wrong, CVG!
Below, you can watch CVG's ScreenX pitch, as well as The X trailer playing in a ScreenX theater.

Timbre Speakers
Nowadays speakers are an essential to anyone's desk space, many people spend so much time at their desk it's only right that you should be to able to listen to your favorite music too. The Timbre Speakers would be a nice addition to anyone's desk with their sleek design and great sound. Priced at $125 and made from a single piece of solid alder wood as well as stainless making these speakers built to last. "The stainless steel sheet along the front acts as the diaphragm and suspension of the speaker, thanks to an attached voice coil, resulting in a full sound across the entire range." If you want more on the specifications of the speakers head on over to Timbre here.
